Announcement   Day Star Jewelry is a hand assembled costume jewelry shop featuring vintage and modern, sparkling crystal and shimmering glass rhinestone jewelry in an abundant array of vibrant gemstone colors.

★ You will find a rainbow variety of beautiful gemstone colored rhinestone necklaces, bracelets and earrings, many featuring vintage crystal and glass rhinestone jewels manufactured in West Germany and Japan, circa 1930-1950’s era. Most of these beautiful man-made jewels have laid untouched, in like-new condition, tucked away in dusty warehouses in their original packaging for 60 years or longer.

★ All metal components used to make the necklaces and earrings in my shop are not vintage, but modern day metals that are nickel and lead free for your comfort and safety.

Each purchase will come to you in a gift box, ready to give to someone special, or to keep for yourself as a treat.

I ship via USPS First Class Mail. A tracking number is provided for your purchase and will be emailed to you when your package is shipped.

♥ International Shipments To Canada and Australia ♥

★ Your package will be shipped via USPS First Class International Mail.

★ Please be aware that you may be charged fees and duties on your imported items. Customs duties and fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR COSTUME JEWELRY

♥ Costume jewelry pieces should be put on last and taken off first when dressing. This is because make-up, perfume and hairsprays can easily get onto the surface of your jewelry and will destroy the metal-plated finishes.

♥ You should never sleep in your costume jewelry or wear your jewelry in the shower or pool as body oils, soaps and chemicals can quickly destroy metal-plated finishes and give the jewelry piece an unpleasant dull look.

About

Vintage and Modern Rhinestone Jewels Transformed Into Sparkling Jewelry For All Occasions

I have been designing and making costume jewelry for over a decade. Most of the early designs were destined for friends and family as gifts. The first time I sold a necklace was at a craft show where my husband and I were selling beaded snowflake ornaments. I was wearing a little snowflake necklace I had made using crystal beads and rhinestones. A customer saw it and told me she had to have my necklace! I sold it to her on the spot and promptly went home that night and worked into the early morning hours making several more that I sold at the same craft show the next day! I was hooked! Making jewelry was fun and rewarding.

My newest passion is working with vintage glass rhinestone jewels. They may be aged and sometimes a little worn around the edges, but they still possess a brilliance and elegance that makes them a timeless classic. The radiant gemstone colors and the weight and feel of the vibrant stones come together to create a spectacular piece of jewelry.

In my shop, you will find a rainbow variety of beautiful gemstone colored rhinestone necklaces, bracelets and earrings; many featuring vintage crystal and glass rhinestone jewels manufactured in West Germany and Japan, circa 1930-1950’s era.

♥ Always place your costume jewelry in a plastic baggie, jewelry pouch or box so that dust won't easily get to it and destroy metal-plated finishes.

♥ You should never sleep in your costume jewelry or wear your jewelry in the shower or pool as body oils, soaps and chemicals can quickly destroy metal-plated finishes and give the jewelry piece an unpleasant dull look.

♥ Be aware that wearing perfumes and lotions around your neck or wrist can destroy metal finishes and alter the color of your costume jewelry.

♥ To clean your jewelry, gently wash surfaces with a soft cloth that is moistened with warm water. Wipe dry with a clean, dry, lint-free soft cloth to avoid scratching.

♥ Always store costume jewelry in a cool and dry place, inside a plastic baggie, jewelry pouch or box. A good deal of jewelry discoloration and tarnishing is due to oxidation, which requires exposure to air to take place.

♥ Be sure to store each jewelry piece separately in order to avoid dents and scratches that will occur from coming in contact with other jewelry.

Add some sparkle to your life!

Why Does Jewelry Turn Our Skin Black or Green?
Oxidation Reaction

Oxidation reaction is the black or green staining of skin that occurs when the salt and acid that is naturally present in our bodies, reacts with the metals in our jewelry. Different body chemistry can speed up this process. This is a harmless side effect that can easily be washed off our skin with soap and water. This does NOT just happen with costume jewelry.

Copper and Brass
Copper often turns skin green. The piece you're wearing might not be pure copper, but it could have enough copper in it to cause a reaction, and some people seem to have a body chemistry that's prone to staining even when a tiny amount of the metal is present. Brass comes in many different alloys, each with a different specific composition of metals, but is usually made of mostly copper and some zinc.

♥ Any metal can potentially turn our skin green.

Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is 7.5 percent copper, but the most common stains from sterling silver jewelry are black, a result of the metal darkening due to a reaction with gases in the air.

Gold
Gold itself hardly ever stains your skin, it's the other metals that gold is mixed with (to create an alloy) that cause the problems. Copper, nickel and silver can be used to alter the color of gold, and make it stronger and more affordable. Any of those metals can cause discoloration on your skin.

The lower karat number on your jewelry, the less pure gold it contains. Some people never have a reaction to the metals in even 10K gold, but others must buy 18K pieces to stop the discoloration.
