Announcement   Art in a vibrant, colorful blend of realism and story book illustration with a dash of whimsy and a touch of magic.

Hello and Welcome to De La Renaissance, a shop dedicated to my original art and fine quality prints.

Most of the art you see here has been originally created with a medium I love, Prismacolor Pencils. Every original contains hour upon hour of detailed work, with some 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" pieces taking up to 3 days and 9 layers of blended color.

My prints are created on 50 lb. Hahnemuhle's "Photo Rag" Fine Art Paper made in Germany with ChromaLife 100 inks which are rated to last 100 years with proper handling. Each is then carefully inspected by myself. After my approval I hand sign, title, date, and copyright each one on the back. (Limited editions are also numbered.)

On occasion artwork created in other mediums may be found in De La Renaissance.

Thank you for stopping in and I look forward to seeing you back again!

About

The art of De La Renaissance is inspired by the beauty and whimsy of life!

~ De La Renaissance is filled with art and creations stimulated by my love of life, art that embodies the beauty and child like whimsy imagined and real!

When asked one day "What made you start creating art?", I paused and thought. My mind quickly traveled back to when I was four, with a box full of beautiful crayons and a coloring book filled with delightful drawings from the story of Cinderella.

Traveling back a little farther... at the very tender age of two I had been placed on the back of a gentle, giant, brown and white Paint horse that was visiting with it's owner next to my grandparents house. Instant love! From that day forth horses lived in the center of my world, unfortunately not as the living breathing creature, but in my mind and on paper. The coloring book I received for Christmas on my fourth year contained Cinderella's magic pumpkin coach pulled by beautiful "horses!". I colored every horse picture and drew them over and over and over on paper. I searched them out in books, magazines, and gazed at them in the two cherished posters on my wall. I dreamt horses, my mind's eye saw horses running with us whenever we traveled by car, and eventually wonderful model horses found their way into my heart, the first pair loved so well their legs needed to be repaired by my creative and ingenious father.

Yes, it was horses! They were what started my passion for creating!

The only way to own one when I was a child was to create them first with crayons and later pencil on paper or paint on canvas. My mother's parents eventually bought and kept a dark bay Welsh pony mare for me, and my father's talented artistic mother allowed me to sit by her side as she painted, now and then stopping to draw wonderful horses for me. And as I grew I delighted in all of nature, from the singing birds and sounds of the wind in the trees, to tadpoles wiggling in warm ponds, and the beautiful agates that could be found on the cold, clear Lake Superior shores.

My first horse became real when I was 19. His name was Chock, a beautiful dappled palomino Quarter Horse, the very guy you see posing with me in the image on this page. Since that day I have owned giant draft horses, cute ponies, and beautiful horses of the Arabian breed, many whom now appear as Unicorns and Pegasus in my art.

Over the years I have kept and enjoyed the childlike wonder of life, a heart filled with love and joy...hopes and dreams. This is what fills my art with whimsy each containing a delightful story, art that captures many of the young and young at heart. Creations that begin either as an image in my imagination or an experience provided by nature. Whether a pencil sketch or full color painting...a bronze sculpture or jewelry pendant, each creation contains a bit of how I enjoy the world...through the love and beauty of life! ~

Oh yes...please let me include...I also love gardening, photography, designing, real books, working with children, animals, the creations of God, and so very much more! :0)

In compassion and love for people, a generous portion of my sales both online and off, are given to help those around the world, including the US, who need food, clean water, medical care, clothing, and shelter.

~ Wishing you a wonderful day! ~
