About

Taking the old and making it new

I am the creator behind DeMoss Designs Wood. In my garage “wood shop” I transform ordinary pieces of fallen trees into works of functional art. I primarily use urban harvested wood from around the Cincinnati, Ohio area in my creations. I am personally drawn to wood with unusual marks, grain patterns, and natural flaws which gives each piece an individual uniqueness and beauty. Additionally, many of the tools used in my productions are restoration projects themselves, returning to service quality made in America tools from previous generations.

I am originally from the historic town of Madison, IN where my love of handmade items was born. I attended Centre College in Danville, KY and am now a social studies teacher at a college preparatory school in Cincinnati, OH. I reside in Loveland, OH with my wife and three young daughters. When I am not turning wood you may find me on a golf course or soccer field. I am also a member of the Ohio Valley Woodturner’s Guild and the American Association of Woodturners.

    Creator And Co-Owner

With three little girls at home, you can imagine I need a little get-away. My garage "wood shop" has turned in to a haven for me. I love being surrounded by wood chips and scraps while carving out my creations.
