Announcement    Over the course of 30 years, Debbie Hughes has created covers and interiors for over 80 nationally published books, magazines and CD rom Titles. She also illustrated over 100 illustrations for the Collectible Game Card Market and over 100 illustrations for CD Rom games and learning publications.
In recent years, roughly from 2005 on, Debbie has concentrated on her own ideas. She has switched from Acrylic to Oils and she has experimented with heavy textures. She describes her work now as fantastic realism, and a natural progression from works that imply a story to works that depict enigmatic themes and elements.
Debbie has exhibited her works at numerous Art shows both Mainstream shows and at Conventions related to the Science Fiction Market she worked in. Debbie has been the guest Artist at over 14 Science Fiction Conventions. In addition her works have been used in College courses on Illustration in the Science Fiction Field both in the US and abroad. Debbie is listed at The Gunn Center for the Study of Science Fiction at The University of Kansas, and with the Internet Science Fiction Data Base. She is also listed in Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists of the Twentieth Century: A Biographical Dictionary, by Jane Frank, 2009. On November 14, 2019 Debbie was inducted into the National Association of Women Artists which is the oldest women's fine art organization in the country. Debbie joins a list of distinguished American women artists, among it's roster were artists Mary Cassatt, Edith Prellwitz, and Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. Debbie resides in North Georgia with her husband in a small cottage on Lake Lanier.
