Announcement   Hello! Thank you for visiting my store.
My name is Debbie Solan, I am a mixed media artist, I love to create with the many different materials that seem to find me. I created my ETSY store to offer my work to a base of customers with a love & understanding of handcrafted items.

All of the artwork in my store is created by me. Usually during the wee hours! I find my most creative time to be between 10pm and 4am. I am co-founder of Fusionglass Co. a warm glass gallery & teaching studio in southern CA. On the retirement of my business partner I kept the gallery and changed the name to Idea Field to better reflect the more diverse offerings now available.

Born 30 miles from the great monoliths of Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England. To Irish parents forced there by a failing economy at home. When I was 4 yrs old, we moved back to Ireland, and I was raised on the south side of Dublin. Since then I have lived in England, Greece, Germany, Denmark, Holland, & The USA where I currently reside in sunny San Diego.
I have no memory of life without art. From early childhood I have loved to create. I work in many media including glass, clay, paint, photography, mosaic, paper, wire.
I am inspired by the natural world, the beauty of color, up-cycling.
My store will showcase Jewelry, home interior items, lighting, mobiles, costumes, accessories and up-cycled items.
Much of the jewelry is handcrafted using some element of dichroic glass. All designs are original. I like to use freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver wire in my jewelry creations and often create the clasps myself too. All glass shown here is created personally by me.
I have a fascination with all things faerie. My childhood was filled with many tales of the faerie folk. I really enjoy using unwanted wedding dresses and upcycling them into beautiful whimsical and enchanting faerie dresses.
The original shape of the gown and the type embellishment inspire the color combination for the finished gown. The hand crafted wings are sewn to the back so all you need to do it put on your dress and go! A matching head wreath comes with each gown. The gowns are created for costume purposes. I am happy to take custom orders.

About

Art with Heart

"I have created art for as long as I can remember.
and will continue to create for as long as I am able" D. Solan

Originally from Dublin, Ireland. I consider myself a Mixed-Media artist. I have lived and work in La Mesa, Ca, a suburb of San Diego since 2001.

Potter, painter, t-shirt designer, muralist, glass worker, mixed media, mosaic artist, photographer, jewelry designer, and up-cycled goods. I love to create and will use pretty much anything I have around.

I began glass working in 2001 on the invitation of a friend, Paul Fernandes. We co-founded Fusionglass Co. Gallery & Studio in 2003.

A showplace for our work and the works of local artist of all genres. Fusionglass Co. exemplifies the our mission "To promote the arts in our communities, through teaching programs, exhibitions and collaborative projects.

One of the Annual events held at the gallery is "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Showcasing local foods and wines, entertainers and artists. The show attracts a huge following of faerie enthusiasts. With many of the attendees wearing amazing costumes they created for themselves. I hold a "Faerie Dress Workshop" just before the event and we spend the day creating beautiful ethereal fantastical costumes.

The dresses shown at "ErinFaerie" are the culmination of my vision for the show.
Beautiful, ethereal or whimsical creations in tulle, silks, & satins with accents of crystals and pearls. They begin life as a wedding dress and are up-cycled by cutting, coloring and adding additional embellishments as well as gorgeous hand crafted wings.

The gowns are created for costume purposes.
I am happy to discuss a custom design, or create a costume from a dress you supply.

My work has been shown at galleries, publilc buildings and museums across the country.
Including
Museum of Monterey, CA.
Oceanside Museum of Art.
Bellagio Gallery, Las Vegas.
San Diego Airport Special Arts Installation.
