Ha sido un viaje largo y extraño para llegar hasta aquí. Echa un vistazo a mi tienda de joyas hechas a mano.

Comencé mi andadura en la joyería cuando tenía 10 años con un anillo envuelto en alambre que yo misma diseñé. Pasaba el rato con el artista que hacía los anillos, las joyas y las piedras talladas y lo molestaba durante horas. Él me enseñó la belleza inherente a las piedras y me mostró mis primeros ópalos, que son una de mis piedras favoritas. Es una gema distintiva que permite crear hermosas piezas llamativas.

Años después, tuve la oportunidad de tomar clases de orfebrería en la universidad y encontré mi salida creativa. He estado haciendo joyas de vez en cuando durante los últimos 25 años, mientras trabajaba en mi trabajo diario en informática. Después de hacer un profundo examen de conciencia, decidí dejar mi trabajo y concentrarme únicamente en crear joyas.

Todos los artículos están diseñados y hechos a mano por mí. Hago y diseño piezas que usaría. Debido a que cada pieza está hecha a mano individualmente, cada una es un poco diferente del resto, unidas por el diseño, pero aún así tan especiales y únicas como quien las usa.

Utilizo prácticas tradicionales de orfebrería: corto a mano los metales con una sierra de joyero, soldadura de plata y mucho, mucho más, para fabricar a mano un producto de calidad. Está hecho con amor. ¿Qué podría ser mejor que eso?

Una de mis principales técnicas de metal se llama mokume-gane, que produce una textura de madera en el metal. El mokume-gane es un proceso japonés de metalistería que produce un laminado de metales mixtos con patrones de capas distintivos, similar al damasco pero utilizando metales preciosos. Cada pieza tiene un patrón de capas único producido mediante el forjado intensivo de múltiples capas de diferentes metales, seguido de un calentamiento, reforjado y texturizado repetidos. Debido a este proceso, cada pieza de metal es única y cada pieza de joyería es única.

Otro metal con el que he estado trabajando es el niobio. Es un elemento estrechamente relacionado con el titanio, por lo que es fuerte, ligero y se puede colorear con electricidad. El niobio también es un metal puro, por lo que no está aleado con otros metales. Esto lo convierte en uno de los pocos metales hipoalergénicos.

I started my journey in jewelry making when I was 10 years old with a design-your-own wire wrapped ring. I would hang out with the artist who made the rings, jewelry and cut stones and pester him for hours. He introduced me to the beauty inherent in stones and showed me my first opals, which are one of my favorite stones. It’s a distinctive gem which makes beautiful statement pieces.

Years later, I had the opportunity to take metalsmith classes in college and found my creative outlet. I’ve been making jewelry off and on for the last 25 years, while working my day job in IT. After doing a lot of soul searching, I decided to quit my job and focus solely on creating jewelry.

All items are designed and handmade by me. I make and design pieces that I would wear. Because each piece is individually made by hand, each one is a bit different from the rest, united by design, but still as special and unique as its wearer.

I use traditional metalsmithing practices: hand cutting my metals with a jeweler's saw, silver solder, and much, much more, to hand-make a quality product. It’s made with love. What could be better than that?

One of my main metal techniques is called mokume-gane, which produces a wood texture in metal. Mokume-gane is a Japanese metalworking process which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns, similar to Damascus but using precious metals. Every piece has a unique layering pattern produced by labor-intensive forging of multiple layers of different metals, followed by repeated heating, re-forging, and texturing. Because of this process, every piece of metal is unique and every piece of jewelry is one of a kind.

Another metal I’ve been working with is niobium. It’s an element closely related to titanium, so it’s strong, light and can be colored with electricity. Niobium is also a pure metal, so it’s not alloyed with other metals. This makes it one of the few hypoallergenic metals.
