About

Finding my silver lining

My brother actually brought me to Etsy. I have been bead weaving since I was a teenager. A single parent, I worked 2 jobs most of my kids life until a rare illness changed my world in 2004. After serious major surgery I could no longer work, was classified "permanently disabled" and had to really think about this. It was unacceptable so I needed to find a way to socialize, have friends, be productive and have some income. When my brother approached me about selling my beadwork on a professional level and showed me Etsy, I knew I had found a way. It has been a slow journey but I have met friends, have become a part of something, I have wonderful customers that I feel I owe the largest thank you in the world to. Etsy has allowed me to continue to be a productive part of society. My bead weaving may not be perfect but it is 100% hand woven by me with love and attention to each piece I place in my shop. My ornaments are slowly stitched one sequin and one seed bead at a time. Not something you will find in any department store. They say that every cloud has a silver lining. My Etsy shop is my silver lining. Thank you for visiting , I would love you to stop in often because if it were not for you, I would not be here.

My passion for beadweaving started in the Girl Scouts and remained a hobby through many of my adult years. In 2004 serious illness changed my life. I decided to use this to turn my hobby into a business rather than just give in to "being disabled".

Shop policies

Welcome to my shop, I have been creating handbeaded jewelry since I got my first beading loom at 14. Loved it but of course as I got older and went to work it fell by the wayside for a while. Once I started having kids I picked it up again and found it to be such great therapy that I started making so much at night I had to start selling it and Serenity Collections was born. I still worked a full time job, took care of my home and family and did beadwork when I had free time and sold it at local craft shows. During all this for many years I dealt with a variety of health issues that did not make sense and got steadily worse up until a few years ago when I was diagnosed with a rare illness that required brain surgery, since then I have battle hard to get the use of my hands back and have many post surgical problems that cannot be reversed, the bright side here is I can spend as many hours a day as I want playing with my beads and I am loving it. I have joined Etsy and created this store because I am not ready to curl up in a chair and give in to the physical stuff. I love making my jewelry and my ornaments, I have a need to continue to be a productive human being and part of something fun and if I can sell my peices well, there is no stopping me. Thank you , look at my work, I hope you enjoy what you see.

I am always looking for small independant boutiques that wish to order in small (1/2 to 1dz) peices at a time to build a wholesale relationship with, My specialty is amulet bags.
I cannot accept custom orders as I can not depend on my crazy health to cooperate at all times.
