Hallo! Ik ben Claire, de handborduurkunstenares achter Delicious Monster Tea. Ik woon in Cardiff en werk vanuit mijn kleine gele thuisstudio.
Ik maak handgeborduurde aandenkens - van zakdoekjes met handgeschreven berichtjes tot gepersonaliseerde babyvestjes en T-shirts van biologisch katoen. Elk stuk wordt met de hand geborduurd en is gemaakt om jarenlang te koesteren.
Delicious Monster Tea is per toeval ontstaan op een zondagmiddag in 2016, toen een vreemde vroeg waar ik een zelfgeborduurd T-shirt had gekocht. "Die heb ik zelf gemaakt," zei ik, en zo had ik mijn eerste klant!
Wat begon als een klein Etsy-winkeltje groeide gestaag (en vervolgens razendsnel nadat Fearne Cotton een van mijn T-shirts droeg), waardoor ik in 2018 mijn kantoorbaan kon opzeggen. Sindsdien heb ik het assortiment uitgebreid met babykleding, zakdoeken en andere handgeborduurde aandenkens – allemaal ontworpen met het oog op attente cadeaus.
Ik ben nog steeds de enige achter de schermen – ik ontwerp, naai, pak bestellingen in en pas af en toe de code van mijn website aan! Daardoor hoop ik dat mijn sentimentele kant erdoorheen schijnt. Ik vind het geweldig om van klanten te horen en de mooie, grappige, romantische en soms hartverscheurende verhalen achter jullie bestellingen te lezen.
Hello! I’m Claire, the hand embroidery artist behind Delicious Monster Tea. I live in Cardiff and work from my little yellow home studio.
I create hand embroidered keepsake gifts - from handwritten message handkerchiefs to personalised baby cardigans and organic cotton t-shirts. Each piece is stitched by hand and made to be treasured for years to come.
Delicious Monster Tea began by accident one Sunday afternoon in 2016, when a stranger asked where I’d bought a t-shirt I’d embroidered myself. “I made it,” I said, and just like that, I had my first customer!
What started as a tiny Etsy shop grew steadily (and then very quickly after Fearne Cotton wore one of my t-shirts), allowing me to quit my office job in 2018. Since then, I’ve expanded the range to include baby clothing, handkerchiefs, and other hand embroidered keepsakes – all designed with thoughtful gifting in mind.
It's still just me behind the scenes - designing, stitching, packing orders and occasionally tweaking the code on my website! As a result, I hope that my gooey sentimentality shines through. I love hearing from customers and reading the beautiful, funny, romantic and sometimes heart-breaking stories behind your orders.
