Blacksmithing inspires me because it gives me the freedom to express and challenge myself. In my Central Oregon blacksmith shop, Deschutes Iron Forge, I do traditional blacksmithing. I enjoy transforming a plain bar of iron into different forms, creating a forged piece of fine art. I heat the metal in a forge, then draw out each piece with a hammer focusing on the details to make my products a unique quality piece. I enjoy creating hammered iron because it gives amazing light lines that show off the hand forged look. Deschutes Iron Forge welcomes custom orders!

Enjoying Life as a Traditional Blacksmith
My early 1900’s, 9’ tall, 4,600 lb old Beaudry trip hammer and I spend many long hours together. Do I need to say this is my favorite tool as a blacksmith? My passion is traditional blacksmithing because I enjoy transforming a plain bar of iron into different forms creating a forged piece of fine art. Hammered iron reveals amazing light lines that show off the hand forged look even in something as simple as a forged handrail. Blacksmithing inspires me because it gives me the freedom to express and challenge myself. I take my time to focus on the details of each piece. When people see my work, I’d like them to appreciate the quality of the craftsmanship. What can Old Beaudry and myself create for you?
Over 30 years ago, I began a career in custom fabrication. A few years later I had a unique opportunity to work under a master blacksmith for 9 years forging in the traditional style. Since then, I've been creating all kinds of custom ironwork in my blacksmith shop in Redmond, Oregon. I hope you enjoy looking at my ironwork.
