Natural high quality, just like you:
All of our items are hand dyed with low impact products. We use natural fibers as much as possible which are perfect for dying and are better for the earth than synthetic ones! Everything we do here at Desert Dyes comes with conscious thought regarding the earth. We use less water with our small batch eco washers, less energy as we hang dry all our items, less paper wherever possible, reuse or recycle all rubbers + plastics and NEVER waste fabric! We try to give back as much as possible because as a business there are some environmental pit falls you simply cannot avoid. The earth is so important and clothing production can really make an impact on our environment. To help of set our carbon footprint more we give back $2 from every purchase from out "Upcycled Collection" to the local non-profit Protect Our Winters.

About Me:

Hi! Im Lo, owner + founder of Desert Dyes. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where I fell in love with art, sewing, math, and of course, the outdoors. I am a very passionate person and give my all to what I do. I am so thankful to be able to pour so much energy into creating, it has saved me! I love the earth with all my heart and do as much as i can to help keep this business as green as possible. Until I found tie dye, acrylic paint was my favorite medium. I loved to blend colors and let abstract designs pour onto the canvas. When college came I tried to leave my creative side behind to pursue "more realistic" passion of mine in math and physics. I studied physics for several years until I found myself burnt out and working a cubicle I couldn't stand. Life had taken some punches and this combined with my lack of creating left me in a shell like state. I began to create more and gradually found myself leaving physics behind. This helped get me back into a space of needing to create constantly, which honestly is the only space I'm happy in. I started doing art again, blending what acrylics I had left from high school that somehow had managed to not dry out. Canvases were expensive and I was broke so I had to find another way to blend colors. Tie dye became my natural new medium. I started doing copious amounts of tie dye in times of extreme stress haha. Naturally I had to give many of these dyes away to friends. They loved them and some wanted to make dyes with me. We made outfits for music festivals and got complimented for our outfits and creativity. WE FELT FLY AF. It has been a little less than a year since I decided to work my ass off to give others that same feeling. I don't know what it is about clothing but a good top can change your mindset so easily. I personally have struggled with feeling confident in the past and clothing has always been something to make me feel like a queen. Every item I make, I make with the intention to be one of a kind + make you feel awesome being the one of a kind human you are! I find a lot of inspiration from my grandparents. My Grandmother will always be remembered by me for her fashion sense. She always embroidered the most beautiful things onto sweatshirts for me and when she passed I inherited some of her clothes and jewelry. Her husband was also an artist. I am who I am as an artist because of him. I grew up in a home where his giant abstract acrylic painting hung. Many of them were very similar to the style of art I found myself doing as a teenager. It wasn't until years later that I saw the connection. Now I turn to his art for inspiration and moreover motivation as he worked on these pieces for several years before they were done! My other grandmother is a beautiful seamstress and is still around to answer my endless sewing questions. Her embroidery and quilt making has inspired me since I was a little girl. She is the one who taught me to sew (and play piano) so I have a lot to thank her for! I feel so lucky to have found inspiration so close to home. I absolutely love creating these designs for you all and hope that you find something you love! I would be an empty shell of a human without this so seriously, thank you for shopping at Desert Dyes,
