Design Parlour is a custom invitation design studio that specializes in paper goods. Design Parlour began in 2008 and officially launched its stationery line in 2012.
Founder Eileen began Design Parlour based on the idea that paper goods should be one-of-a-kind, extraordinary, AND have a conscience. The Design Parlour aesthetic speaks to people that want printed matter that will not only be memorable and handmade, but conscious of the environment as well. All of the printing, cutting and folding is done by Eileen so she can have total control of the printing process and the final result. Eileen uses a combination of recycled paper, recycled envelopes and windpower paper. Design Parlour provides the pleasant feeling of receiving stationery without any of the factory, mass produced connotations.
Eileen is a graphic designer with a BFA in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She lives in Brooklyn and has a passion for creating paper goods, especially hand-made invitations and other custom design work. In 2007, Eileen was diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the young age of 26. Eileen views her diagnosis as a wake up call that brought her to a higher state of awareness. Her first step was being more conscious of food choices, and being vegetarian most of her life made it easier to transition to chemical-free, organic food options and the mainly raw food lifestyle she embraces today. Taking time off from life to heal, Eileen decided that she was going to focus her attention on creating art. Her unique approach allowed her to transform her skills into Design Parlour.
