Custom orders?? Yes, I love making my customers exactly what they are looking for! I stock reusable snack and sandwich bags, but have made gallon size wet bags, flat bottom zipper pouches and baby changing pads per customer requests.

How Designing Elementary got started!

I learned to sew around the age of 10. As a child, I made everything from pouches to clothing to foot shaped pillows. As I grew, my sewing projects became more detailed, but were simply for pleasure! My freshman year of college, I made a queen sized quilt in my dorm room. The regularity of my sewing projects was slowly disappearing as I entered the world of teaching and focused all of my energy on being the best teacher I could. Although I wasn't sewing regularly, there were still projects here and there.

I started sewing more regularly again when I made a quilt for my wedding day. Other projects included food pouches to take my lunch in, baby gifts and simple zipper pouches. Friends and family encouraged me to sell items, but I never felt like I had the time. After having a son of my own, I began making more and more items for him. Friends again continued to encourage me to sell, but I still wasn't ready.

Finally after having my second child and needing a way to use my brain for things other than mommy jobs, I decided it was time! I knew from the start I wanted to link my shop back to teaching. So, my husband agreed that donating to a teachers classroom projects multiple times a year would be the way to do that. Therefore, I make quarterly donations through Donors Choose to classroom projects that bring meaning and fun to the students learning. It has been very rewarding to help these teachers!

I love what I do and simply want my products to be fun, but more importantly useful to my customers!
