I make zines. You buy zines. Got it?
Once upon a time, there was a middle-aged man. He was on holiday. And decided to go to Palmy North. Looking for something interesting to do there, he discovered an event called a zinefest, where locally homespun magazines could be found. He walked away with a commemorative bag full of zines and a head full of inspiration. Some of it was not brown and lumpy like usual.
In 2023 he tabled at Wellington Zinefest with about seven zines. After some reflection and learning from his mistakes, he revamped, revised, and tabled again with new and improved zines. He won a Special Mention award for his new EP zine "Frog Salad".
With the power of Scribus, antique laser and inkjet printers, and a healthy dose of overconfidence, he creates zines where he writes about things that spark his interest, seasoned with drawings, photos, and digital collages whipped up in a frantic last-minute rush.
He also makes noises which get recorded prior to burning to CD. However, the facts that the Modern Youth of Today can't work a CD Walkman, and don't have CD players at home, means he'll probably just release the zines with a QR code in them to his Bandcamp.
So... that's it, really. He makes zines, sometimes with CDs in. You buy them. It's all very simple. Hopefully not like you. Hopefully you are an intelligent human being and not simple at all.
