About

Artist Bio and statement

Devi Wilbur owns Devi Wilbur Fine Arts Studio in Salina, KS. She regularly shows her art at various galleries in Kansas and Oklahoma. Her art is on permanent, rotating display at the Swogger Gallery in Wamego, KS as well as at medical facilities and businesses in the Manhattan area. Her art has been shown worldwide in juried competitions, and has sold across the USA and UK. About 40% of her sales are through commission work.

Devi is a member of the Columbian Artist Group and the American Watercolor Society. She has been creating art for close to forty years, but only professionally in the last three. Her art has been steadily increasing in value each year, and there are currently 6 collectors who purchase from her on a regular basis.

She teaches a pointillism workshop at the Salina Arts Center, is the instructor for the Ada, KS arts group, and assists with the papermaking classes at the Sunflower Adult Center in Salina, KS.

Devi's statement:
"My heart is in my art. Although I am known for pointillism paintings and graphite drawings, I love a challenge and get easily bored. My nature leads me to work in a variety of styles, media, and subject matter. What I am trying to achieve in my artwork is to convey my many life's interests, and to connect with all different types of people through art.

I paint with oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, tempura, inks, and graphite powder. I will draw with anything that I can get my hands on that will make a mark or smudge on paper. I throw pottery, and work in ceramics, create mosaics, weave baskets, do a little woodworking, and make handmade paper. I sometimes like to combine techniques and materials to make unique mixed media pieces."

Contact Devi if you would like a commissioned piece on a particular subject or a portrait. She also donates artwork and time to charitable causes, and welcomes those inquiries.
