About

Reverend Dickson's Rectory

The items you'll find in Dicksons Rectory come from an old Anglican rectory located on a rural road near Inverness, in the Centre-du-Québec region. Originally from Montreal, the old rectory became my house in 1999, and I found hundreds of various objects that belonged to the family of Reverend H.A. Dickson, who lived there from 1895 to the mid twentieth century. To learn about the very singular history of this place, I invite you to visit my blog at: http://lepresbyteredickson.blogspot.ca/

I think the best way to fully appreciate these objects, beyond their historical and ethnological interest, is to place them in the context of this house and the people who lived there. This is why I could not open the shop without, in parallel, tell the story of the rectory on a blog. I hope you'll have as much fun as I had to discover the fascinating and unique history of the family of Reverend Dickson, and through it, that of an entire English-speaking community of the Nineteenth century in rural Quebec at the time.

Enjoy your visit!

I fell into the fascinating world of heritage and history in 1999, when I bought an old Anglican church and its rectory in Inverness, Québec.
