Announcement   Dirty Blonde is for sassy individualists who delight in expressing their fresh style, using unexpected resources to create their looks.  I am keenly aware of the current state of the world; the waste, the exploitative production processes, Big Money takeover,  and the homogenization of art and fashion. These are some of the reasons I support small-batch local production and the use of small-batch and repurposed materials. Also, it's really fun to create within these parameters, creating eye-catching pieces out of cast-off materials, or "treasure out of trash" (so to speak)!

With leisure-meets-retro-meets-street inspired chic, Dirty Blonde features hand-made items in vintage, upcycled or small batch fabrics, as well as style runs produced by our skilled sewing contractors; all with love, all right here in sunny California!

Check out the new Dirty Blonde Repurposed section. It features our line of looks made from upcycled, leftover, and other materials that come from sources other than the usual fabric purveyors. These items are hand-crafted and truly unique in all the world! We can also do custom orders if you have an old tee shirt, sweater, or other item that you'd like to give a new life to.

March 22-April 1 get 20% off your total purchase of $50 or more. Use coupon code SPRUNG at checkout. And don’t forget: free domestic shipping on most items!

Gift wrapping available, just message me if you need your purchase wrapped up for any occasion.

About

Dirty Blonde, Sassy and Chic for the Unique

From early on in my life, I have been a proponent of unique style, starting with the fresh handmade leopard print bunting my mother made for me as an infant, which definitely set the tone for my fashion. From there I moved on to extravagant games of dress-up, donning the fabulous old frocks of my mother and grandmother's.
At fourteen, I was introduced to the world of sewing and textiles via a summer sewing class. From stitch one, I was in love. By high school I was reworking commercial patterns to create my own designs, inspired by the work of couture designers I admired in high fashion magazines of the times, such as Alexander McQueen, Betsey Johnson, Issey Miyake, Thierry Mugler, to name a few. Also inspiring were the fine textiles I sold at the designer fabric store where I scored my first job. After studying fashion in college, I created my designs in Chicago under the label Diabolique, then in Phoenix, AZ, where my line took on a more resort/loungewear tone, as allison leigh apparel. From there I moved westward to San Francisco, then finally, Oakland CA, where I have re-vamped my line as Dirty Blonde.

Now, DB is moving in a new direction with Dirty Blonde Repurposed, which utilizes material derived from 'found' or upcycled sources, such as; tee shirts, men's dress shirts, old sweatshirts and sweaters, as well as leftover fabric from past projects, unsold inventory, and in some cases, materials or clothing gifted to me or otherwise stumbled upon. I'm really excited to be entering this territory, not only because it reduces my carbon footprint on the world and ensures my creation process is clean and fair, but it also allows me to be truly creative and to make pieces that are the only ones of their kind: truly individualistic!

Growing up in the Midwest, where conservative dress was the way, I felt this deep need to rebel against the norm and stand out as an individual with my own unique sense of fashion. I infuse that approach to my line today by rejecting the idea of mass-produced, homogenous clothing and instead offering pieces that allow the wearer to express their unparalleled style. Dirty Blonde features swim and lounge wear, street wear-inspired clothing and handbags that are tinted with old-school glamour and retro flavor. As I tend to source vintage, repurposed, and small batch fabrics, my creations emit a distinct style that celebrates the individual wearing them. All pieces are lovingly crafted either here in Oakland or in Los Angeles, and for the most part, by me!

Additional policies and FAQs
For any custom orders or special requests, please contact us and we will discuss!

On garments made with recycled or repurposed materials, little differences and imperfections will be present. These not only add to the uniqueness of each piece, but also give it character! Items made from such fabrics may have slight variances, so please keep that in mind.

On specified pieces, I can craft them out of your own materials (a favorite old sweater, t-shirt, or fabric piece, for example). Please contact us and we will see about making it happen!
