For the Love of Clay, and Each Other.

Dirty South Pottery started in the head of Carvel way back before he ever met me (Ashley). Alternatively, I had dreams of being a photographer. This is until I began working in clay during my undergraduate studies. The learning of ceramics is what brought us together, so we see it fitting that we continue to work in it.

For several years we worked our normal full time jobs while only being able to do our pottery on the side. I moved into my grandparent's house a few years after graduating college, and was sadden to see my grandfather's old work shop abandoned out in the backyard. That's what began what seemed like such a pipe dream: our very own pottery studio. In 2012 we had enough work and skill to take the next step: buy our own wheel. Between saving our spare money and our amazing parents pitching in, we were able to do just that, plus buy a very small kiln.

Since then we have come a long way!

As of November 2015, Dirty South Pottery has a new home at 38 N. Main Street in Winchester, KY! This is a place to not only buy our work, but the art of other creators in our area. We spent nearly 2 years self-renovating our 1908 building into our dream studio/store combination. Additionally, we remodeled the apartment above, allowing us to live on-site. This is a critical part of our business, letting us to work late nights & early mornings with (somewhat) ease.

Additionally, as of August 2016, we are also happy to report that Dirty South Pottery is the official owner of the phrase 'this might be bourbon' through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. We humbly thank all of our supporters who stood by our side thorugh the trying process of making it official, and are excited to be the exclusive providers for 'this might be bourbon' mugs.

This is Dirty South; where the pottery comes from our roots and soul. We focus on functional pottery with attitude and a simple, colorful style.

We are a husband and wife pottery team out of Central Kentucky. Ceramics brought us together while studying art in college, and we still cannot get enough of it! All of our work is made in our studio on N Main St in Winchester KY. It is a 109 year old building, converted and renovated to meet our mud slinging needs. We work downstairs in the studio while running our brick-and-mortar store, while the upper floors have been converted into our living space.

All of our work is microwave and dishwasher safe. Direct stovetop heating will cause cracking.

Returns and exchange details
See shipping policies for breakage information.

We can refund a piece if you are dissatisfied if we are notified within 3 days of receiving the item. This excludes custom orders that have been personalized with names and dates and are therefore otherwise unsellable. We must have the piece back before refunds can be distributed. Payment
Dirty South accepts Paypal, Esty gift cards, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

Cancellations are accepted before the shipping of ready made pieces or the creation of custom pieces. After these have started, no cancellation will be allowed.
Shipping
The amount of time shipping takes depends on the availability and customization of the order. If it is a custom job, it may take up to 5 weeks for the piece to arrive. Please take this into account when ordering.

Payment must be processed prior to production or shipping.

Extra handling charges may apply for larger orders needing excessive amounts of packaging materials.

- If your items arrive and they are damaged, please photograph them immediately while they are still in their wrappings. From there, you must file an insurance claim with USPS. We cannot do this for you because USPS may request to see the damaged items in person and shipping the broken pieces will negate the insurance on the original package. Unfortunately, we speak from experience. We will supply any information that you may need to file the claim. Secondly, please contact us so that we can start with a replacement order but know that we will require additional payment for the secondary order. USPS will refund the cost of the original order to you directly.
