Apollo's Origin Story
Diva Crows Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education, located in Alexandria, VA, was established in 2012, and throughout the years we've helped rehabilitate countless injured or orphaned corvids and songbirds. We are also committed to educating others about the wonders of our special feathered friends, and we offer various education programs upon request.
In 2019, a very special American crow came into our care as an orphan with what we call a "bumblefoot". This bumblefoot was successfully treated, but this crow ended up being unreleasable due to a drooping wing, likely a birth defect, that inhibited its ability to fly properly. He was later dubbed Princess Aurora under the assumption he was a female, and quickly became the official Crow in Charge here at the rehab! We later found out through a DNA blood test that Aurora is male, so he now goes by Apollo!
Apollo displayed his artistic talents early on in life, so we began using painting as an enrichment activity. Since then, Apollo has created numerous pieces of one-of-a-kind art, and with your help, all the proceeds from his sold art go towards our efforts in rehabilitating local wildlife. ...And maybe some toys and snacks for the artist, too.
