Olá, meu nome é Alycia! Sou nipo-americana de quarta geração e me dedico à arte desde sempre. Sempre me interessei por desenhar animais, especialmente os marinhos. Durante minha graduação, estudei zoologia e sonhava em me tornar professora especializada em zoologia marinha. Depois, fiz mestrado e combinei biologia marinha com proteômica, o que me levou do oceano para o laboratório. Hoje, trabalho em um laboratório e adoro. Passo a maior parte dos meus dias de folga perto do oceano, seja explorando as poças de maré, mergulhando ou caminhando pela praia. Me inspiro em todos os animais marinhos únicos que encontro em minhas aventuras na praia. Também tento combinar minha herança japonesa com minha arte, especialmente na gravura de carimbos. Hi I’m Alycia! I’m a 4th generation Japanese American and have been doing art my whole life. I was always interested in drawing animals, especially ocean animals. During my undergraduate, I studied zoology and hoped to become a professor specializing in marine zoology. I then did a masters and combined marine biology with proteomics, which transported me out of the ocean and into the lab. Today, my day job is in a lab and I love it. Most of my days off are spent by the ocean, either tide pooling, diving, or beachcombing. I draw inspiration from all the unique ocean animals that I find on my beach adventures. I also try to combine my Japanese heritage with my art, especially the stamp carving. The hanko or name stamp is my Japanese name Koharu Uyeoka.
