About

And the rest is history....

I started in this business and I think I found a niche that no one else offers. I bring back good memories of "Grandma" or Oma because she had them all over the house. At the same time, I wipe out bad memories of washing, ironing, starching, and blocking those doilies because these are all 100% polyester.

I'd like to challenge other Etsy store owners to include pictures behind all of their items to show that they are truly made by the store owner......this I have done behind every item.

You will see some of the work in progress, the raw materials that I use, and the finished item.

If you can't find it here, send me a message here at Etsy and I will do my best to help you -- like CRAFT SHOWS! -- as to where you can shop to find my items. I have matching table runners, dresser scarves, doilies, table toppers -- almost a case of you name it -- for all of the items you see here at Etsy -- only they may be listed elsewhere. Drop me a note and I'll help you out.

I grew up in Germany and came to the United States in the early 1960's to have a better life. I'm proud to be here and love America, but I will not forget my German heritage. I am a seamstress by trade and LOVE to sew and design new items.

Working hard to fill Mom's shoes as she retires and downsizes and I take the lead. Mom started this business a long time ago, and before I retired from the USAF, I started my own branch of craft shows and eventually expanded here to Etsy.

And the rest is history....

35 years ago, Mom got started in the doily business and craft shows making a doily, table runner or a dresser scarf. I have been participating in craft shows since 1997. Mom is a seamstress by trade from Germany and she taught me how to sew when I was young. I don't have a permanent store. I have a have sewing rooms in my home where I create everything.

Each doily is individually handcrafted (sewed) before it is shipped to you. I don't make the lace, but I design every doily from the lace and then sew with my sewing machine.

The lace I use is known as a "Machine Macrame" lace and my past customers have said it's more beautiful than "Venetian" lace. In some parts of the world, it's also known as "drawnwork" lace. It is absolutely gorgeous and these pictures don't do the lace justice. The lace is 100% polyester and so is the material. Other laces are either cotton (translation extensive ironing) or rayon (translation dryclean).

If you would like to see the items in person, send me a message here and I can tell you which show that I am doing that will be close to you. I bring my sewing machine to every craft show and demonstrate just how the doilies are made.

Returns and exchanges
I will accept returns in exchange for credit to purchase other merchandise, as long as the returned item is not damaged, within 30 days of purchase. Special order, or custom made pieces can not be returned as they have been specifically created by the customer's request.
Payment
I accept personal checks, money orders, paypal, visa, mastercard, american express, and discover......and last but the least secure method -- CASH. Since we're going to be working long distances and through the mail (as opposed to in person at a craft show), please turn your cash payment into a money order for security and safety reasons.
Shipping
I prefer "First Class Confirmed Delivery" as the method for shipping. This way, your purchase is tracked as delivery is confirmed by the post office. My items ship well and will not break like other products. I will do my best to keep your shipping expenses to a minimum. I will consolidate orders into one shipping envelope in order to save you shipping costs. IF your order doesn't fit into one envelope, shipping for the second envelope is free. I will do my best to get your item in the mail ASAP....however, sometimes I have to sit and make it once you order it -- and other times I'm travelling on the road to a craft show and I'll fill the order on the first day I get back.

Now...some items are "easier" to sew and ship quickly, some LARGER items -- take a good 8 hours to sew....and so that will take a bit longer to get it out to you. Also, during the fall/holiday season, it depends on how many orders I get in one day from this site, other sites and craft shows..... I sew them in order that I get them. You are MORE than welcome to call me to get a status (219-865-8260). Honestly? If I "sell out" of too many tree skirts for example.... that would be nice....but a definite sewing problem. They take time.....lots of time.

Thanks for reading!

Additional policies and FAQs
1. How do I care for my doily?

All items are made with 100% polyester fabric and polyester lace. Therefore, you may wash everything in the washer, dry them in the dryer. There should be no ironing required.

2. Where is your store?

My store is located at my home. However, I participate in various craft shows around the Chicagoland area.

if you have any questions, please drop me a message here through the Etsy system.
