This is probably my 12th bracelet I have purchased (old & new acct). They make perfect gifts; and I own several myself. I rec'v numerous compliments when worn. They make me smile when I see them stacked on my wrist. And they are still like new even though some are several years old. It's a departure from the Alex & Anni Bracelets, but I also worn them together and look great.

Once upon a time...

Doloris Petunia began as an experiment on a card table on the sidewalk of New York City's Houston Street. Every weekend in the fall of 2008 Courtney and her dog (Doloris Petunia) would have customers lining up to buy the creations that Courtney had been making unofficially in her mind for years. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2009, Courtney brought her creations online by setting up shop here on Etsy.

With the support provided by the Etsy platform, Courtney turned her eye for sophisticated fashion, refined style and trendsetting instincts into creating "must have" designs for fans worldwide. In a few short years, Doloris Petunia has gone from a card table to a little Etsy shop to an in-demand brand amongst celebrities, bloggers, and fashion trendsetters. Most of all, Doloris Petunia has become the choice for women wanting unique and one-of-a-kind jewelry, accessories and girl's special occasion dresses.

Doloris Petunia's clients now come from every corner of the globe, and the original designs are carried in many of the world’s most fashion forward stores. Doloris Petunia has also garnered the attention of some of the world’s largest retailers, and she has created custom lines for brands such as Anthropologie and BHLDN. Doloris Petunia has been featured in every major fashion publication and on many red carpets, capturing the eyes and hearts of the fashion world and leaving Lucky Magazine to declare:

"If June Carter Cash, Tony Duquette, and Tom Binns had a baby, the result would be these crazy-lavish pieces from Doloris Petunia. They’re unlike anything we’ve seen and all one-of-a-kind too."

What started out as just Courtney (and her dog) has grown into a small team of people who look forward to all of the exciting adventures that lay ahead in 2015. We are so grateful to the Etsy community for helping make Doloris Petunia what it is today, but above all else we are excited for the opportunity to continue to bring our clients exactly what they were looking for that they could not find anywhere else…. After all, one of a kind really is the new black.

Our darling Lolita inspired all that you see here and kept our feet warm while we worked. Sadly she passed away November 8, 2013 in Courtney's arms. Doloris Petunia will continue on in her honor- May we all be as good as our dogs think we are. xo

Shop policies

Thank you for your interest in Doloris Petunia. We would be honored to call you a client and appreciate you taking the time to read some of our "fine print". Please note that a link to this page has been sent to you upon checkout, so we assume that you are familiar with our policies if you have placed an order.

As promised, The Fine Print...
Please note that most of our work is made-to-order. As a result, the production time can vary depending on the season and volume of orders. Typically non bridal jewelry items take about 2-3 weeks to create and be ready to ship. We will always do our best to accommodate your timing needs, so please be sure to make us aware in advance or at the time of order if there is a deadline. Please also note that we do our best to stock popular items leading into holidays and bridal season, so please do not hesitate to order items as a gift or for an event. We will let you know up front if there is a timing issue.

Bridal items are custom made for each client based on the client's specifications. As a result our wait list tends to be 6 to 8 weeks in the slower seasons and can grow to double that in the busier months. We try our best to accommodate rush orders as it is important to us that a client who has their heart set on one of our designs is able to make a purchase. We require you to confirm a rush order in advance so we can make sure we have time in our schedule to accommodate.

We do list pieces in our shop that are "ready to ship" (such as our friendship bracelets) and in that instance the processing time will be about 1 to 3 days on average. Always keep in mind that we are a very small company that handles a large volume of orders and takes our customer satisfaction very seriously. We will do our best to keep each client up to speed at all times. Please do not hesitate to reach out directly if you have a questions about your order status. As designers first, we spend the majority of our time in the design studio, not on the computer.

We love talking to you, but we get a very high volume of convos and emails so please do not take it personally if it takes us longer to respond or are not able to follow-up directly on every message. Please feel free to reach out again if you think too much time has passed as it is possible due to high volumes your message has become buried in our inbox.

Over Seas...
For international orders, we suggest ideally that you order your items at least three months prior to your event or need by date as to take away the stress that can come from transit times, expedited shipping fees, and occasional customs delays. We do admire how our international brides are able to pull things together last minute, but we are oftentimes not able to accommodate rush orders when international shipping is involved.

While we are on the subject of international orders, feel free to message us in your native language if that is easiest for you. We will do our best to communicate with you in a way that is easiest for you to understand, but most importantly we do not want your details to get lost in translation.

Product Variations…
Please keep in mind that all of our work is completely handmade in house, so there may be slight variations from piece to piece. We think this is what makes our pieces cool, knowing that your item is completely your own and was made just for you. That being said, please keep in mind that handmade items can vary a bit from piece to piece due to human hands and variations in materials. We tend to favor vintage or raw materials and because of that on occasion like materials might be substituted to create the desired overall effect.

Custom Orders...
Yes, we accept custom orders, but we take them on a case by case basis depending on the lead time and current wait list volume. Custom orders tend to require higher budgets than our existing designs, but please do not hesitate to ask about an idea you have. We love working one on one with clients to create original pieces when time allows.

Refunds and Exchanges
The Dreaded Return…
Due to the delicate, made-to-order nature of our jewelry and accessories, we do not accept returns in the event you change or mind. Items which are damaged in the course of normal wear and tear are not considered to be faulty and will not be accepted for return. If an item is faulty upon arrival, or has been damaged in the shipping process (please provide photos in each instance), we ask you return it in original packaging with a postmark within 24 hours of receipt to be eligible for a full refund. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns of items which have been used, worn, damaged, or soiled.

Please choose your items carefully before purchasing. For ready made items that do not require any customization, we will accept refunds/exchanges if we are notified first within 3 days of receipt. The buyer is responsible for paying the return shipping or exchange shipping if necessary. Pieces need to be returned in their original condition and packaged and mailed back in the same protective format in which they were shipped.

The item must be postmarked within 1 week of requesting a refund/exchange (longer for international customers) to be eligible for a refund. We access a 20% restocking fee and do not refund shipping. We do not accept returns on custom or customized items. We are always happy to work with you to alter an item or recreate a piece with in reason so you are completely satisfied with your purchase.

The majority of our pieces are made-to-order and as a result, we do not create pieces as "samples" or "try before you buy". Our bridal accessories in particular are all handmade in our studio using very delicate materials. As a result, they require careful handling to ensure their beauty and longevity. As part of our service, we offer to repair missing crystals for up to one month from purchase. Simply notify us that there is a problem and we will have your piece re-set as quickly as is possible or send you missing stones by mail if you would prefer.

If you would like to return a faulty item, we will accept the item and repair whatever damage in a time sensitive manor. Please do not attempt to repair the piece on your own. In the event that you attempt to repair the piece we can not guarantee that we will be able to successfully repair the damage to the piece. We are more then willing to try to correct the faulty piece, but we are not responsible for any subsequent damage that might occur after the piece is returned back to you if you have first tried to repair the piece yourself. A returned item is your responsibility until it reaches our studio. For this reason, please repack items exactly as they were shipped to to prevent any damage to the items or boxes in transit. If we are unable to repair the item, we will accept a return of a faulty item and replace it with the same design, subject to availability. If we are unable to offer a replacement item, we will accept a return of a faulty item and offer a refund less the shipping fees.

Deposit payments are non-refundable. Rush order fees are to pay for a service provided and are non-refundable. Taxes and duties incurred by international customers are the responsibility of the customer and are non-refundable.
