About DomesticAccents

Sales 286
On Etsy since 2016

It all started when we bought our little house that was in rough Shape. We put our heads together, rolled up our sleeves and turned it into our home.

Thank you for stopping by! Spencer and I met in Chicago and married four months later. We knew each other on a deep level but did not know a lot of the surface details. For instance, I had no clue he worked for a finish carpenter when he was 18 and learned to be a pretty great wood worker. He knew I attended Interior Design School but I was working in Retail when we met so he had forgotten that was in my background. So when we bought our home, gutted it and put it back together we grew closer and really learned a lot about one another through this process. He's a perfectionist and I'm definitely more of the creative minded type. Ha! Through this process one of the projects I created and he built was the swing shelf with a hanger. I knew this was something special and he did too. We perfected the manufacturing process in our garage and that's how Domestic Accents came to be. Thanks for your support!

Frequently asked questions
What hardware do I need to hang the shelf?

All you need is a hammer and Nail. Yep, that's it! Each square hanger that comes with the shelf comes ready-to-hang with a nifty key hole slot. My product takes the headache away from having to add your own hardware.

Does the square hanger come with the shelf? Or do I pay for that piece separately?

Good news! It comes with the shelf as a two piece set and what you see is what you get. Pretty cool to add style to your swing shelf and not have a dinky nail ruin a beautiful statement from your decor.

Is this shelf sturdy?

My shelves are made from solid cedar and pine and the rope is as thick as your finger. By some wild chance that you plan to display something more than 10-15 pounds, I'd suggest finding a stud or using or using a dry wall anchor for 30 more pounds. the shelf will hold up, but your dry wall might not

Where do I hang this shelf?

Anywhere you want! Although the following places are some of my favorites I've seen:
- On your gallery wall, mix it up a little bit!
- Bathroom to hold 3 spare roles of toilet paper; yes it fits 3 double rolls.
- Bedroom wall
- 3 staggered above the sofa
- 1 on each side of the bed
- a few staggered up the stairwell
- hallway in place of a picture
- kitchen
- man cave
- anywhere you would hang a picture, the possibilities are endless!
