"Why 'DoneDotDesigns'?" and "The Sheep-Herding, Vegetable-Raising Artist"
I create original designs that I then hand-pull screen prints onto a variety of sustainable items including Organic cotton, Canadian hemp, Organic bamboo, and upcycled clothing and recycled paper products.
My operation is a one-woman show and my studio is on a farm located in the most beautiful "middle of nowhere". After diligently working on each new design, I print each item in the lovely wide-open space of an Amish-built home, and iron each image to set the ink. I pride myself on quality work and a positive outlook on life.
My other job is being the best pair of helping hands I can be to my top-notch agrarian husband. We're starting our first year at Blue Ox Farm where we strive to provide quality farm-fresh and chemical-free produce to our local community. While not currently certified organic, we follow the National Organic Program’s guidelines to ensure the safety and integrity of our products. We’re located on the countryside between Mondovi and Independence – just East of the town of Gilmanton, Wisconsin.

"Why DoneDotDesigns" you ask? Well, have I got a story for you!
I've been drawing ever since I realized you shouldn't eat the crayons.
When I was three, my parents decided to put my love of unique artwork to use for family Christmas presents. They bought a pile of sweatshirts and a tub of slick paints and set me on the task of decorating a shirt for each family member.
I went wild detailing what my 3-year-old mind considered the essence of each family member... each a colorful portrait with big ears and a big smile... one holding flowers, one on their bike with birds flitting around.
Christmas Eve night arrived and I was at Grandpa and Grandma's farmhouse - still toiling away at the last of the sweatshirts as my parents hoped they would dry in time for gift-giving (always down to the wire!).
Mom suggested that I add another butterfly to this one and then it would be done... without a word, I wrapped my pair of chubby little child hands around the slick paint tube and started on a line of dots along the lower corner of the image.
Puzzled, my parents asked what I was working on. I replied, "These are my done dots".
Today, those family sweatshirts that are still in existence bear a line of Done Dots.
To this early recognition of knowing when a piece is simply finished, my shop's name pays homage.
Now, I'm a doodler and a dreamer who has to carry a pen and sketchbook with me everywhere I go. Many of the doodles go nowhere but a dusty shelf of sketchbooks, but the time has come for some to see the light of day. They're finding their way onto shirts, skirts, pants, bags, stickers, and things to frame.
I was married to my partner, Caleb, in November and we've since moved onto a farm in rural Wisconsin. He runs Blue Ox Farm and I enjoy the morning chores, hauling loads of firewood, and working/creating Done Dot Designs from my home, surrounded by the quiet, but full, life of a farm.
If you'd like to become a home to a friendly doodle, feel free to browse the shop. You can also send me a note about some custom work and we'll frolic through the custom work conversation to get you exactly what you were hoping for.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Imagination Creation
The story begins: I started drawing as soon as I learned not to eat the crayons... and I've been doodling ever since. Now, I live on a Wisconsin farm raising organic vegetables with my husband, caring for sheep and a goat, and creating art for you.
The farmer, the partner, the coach. This man is always there to make me a little hot cocoa on a late, cold night... or to help iron a pile of shirts early before artist market. He keeps me running and, thus, makes DoneDots possible.
In my shop, you'll see hand-pulled screen prints on socially and ecologically friendly clothing from American companies utilizing Organic cotton, Canadian hemp, and Organic bamboo - and they are incredibly soft and cozy!
Look around and see what you can find to love.
I can also put these prints on a favorite item you already own or work with you to create a custom design... just send me a note and we'll get a conversation rolling.
Enjoy.... and take care of yourself!
