About

Dooley & Fritz Vintage Finds

I love waking up bright and early on Friday and Saturday mornings to go to estate sales in the San Francisco area. The thrill of the hunt to find fun and beautiful vintage items to share with the rest of the world is just so addicting!

I wasn't always this way. When I was younger, my mother would drag me around with her to auctions, garage sales, and thrift shops, and.. let's just put it this way - I wasn't a fan! But then, about two years ago, something switched, and now I can't get enough of it. (Actually, what happened was, I went to my first estate sale on my own, and scored a beautiful, mint-condition, vintage Hermes scarf for just $2.50. Yeah, you can say I was "hooked"). My mother in particular gets a kick out of it - remembering how I USED to be. :)

I particularly love the the "green" aspect of this business. Re-using and re-cherishing older items that are in perfectly good working order instead of buying brand new is the way to go, in my opinion. Plus, vintage items have a charm and history to them that no new item could ever possess for years.

My specialty is vintage linen. I love old tablecloths, napkins, table runners, dresser scarves - and I especially love fun and beautiful vintage bedding. Unless I find the item in almost perfect condition, I will hand launder it myself. The process is as follows (as has been handed down to me from my German 'Oma' and mother - their tried and true method):

First, *most* of the linens are soaked in a mild bleach water solution to disinfect, deodorize, refresh, and brighten (this is especially important with vintage pillowcases!). This part of the process isn't always suitable, depending on the type of linen and the delicacy of the piece. Pillowcases, however, are all done this way. Then, after being hand washed with a mild detergent, they're hung out to dry in the sun up on a wonderfully sunny and breezy garden rooftop deck. Finally, once they're dry, they're brought back in to be ironed. It's a time-consuming process, but I believe it's important for my customers to receive lovely linens that are ready to use and enjoy.

This is my full-time job, so I put my heart and soul into it. You're probably able to find vintage linens for less money on Etsy, but I can't allow myself to compete with them. I only sell items that I, myself would sleep on, use, etc., so I take the time to make sure my items are tip-top quality when you receive them.

What can I say, I love what I do!

Oh, and in case you're wondering, my shop name comes from two particular loves in my life: my parents' current and prior dachshunds (all named Dooley), and Fritz, my beloved hedgehog, who recently passed away (R.I.P Fritzy.)

P.S. I recently opened another shop on Etsy for my all-natural skincare line. Please check it out! www.etsy.com/shop/LeafSeedBerry

When I'm not out elbowing my way through the local estate sales finding vintage goodies, I enjoy nature photography, mushroom hunting, animal advocacy, cooking, gardening, and working on my OTHER business. I'm finally self-employed and LOVE it! :)

My passion is waking up bright and early Friday and Saturday mornings to go to estate sales in the Seattle area to find fun and beautiful vintage items to share with the rest of the world. Sometimes I think I'm crazy when I'm sitting in my car at 4:30 in the morning waiting for the doors "to open" at the sale at 8am just so I can get my hands on "the good stuff", but then I remember how much fun and rewarding it is to find something that I know someone out there will just LOVE.

What can I say, I love what I do - crazy or not. :)

Shipping
So that you will receive your purchase in good condition, I package my items very carefully for shipping.

To make sure I cover the US, I calculate shipping from San Francisco to New York. If it turns out that you paid $2 or more for shipping than what it actually ends up costing, I will happily refund the overpaid amount. This refund usually occurs the day your package ships out.

If you're interested in more than one item, I am more than happy to combine shipping. Just continue shopping like you normally would, and once I know how much the total shipping will be, you'll receive a refund for the excess paid.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
I'm happy to ship internationally, even if I don't list an international shipping rate. Simply contact me and let me know where you live. I'll get back to you as soon as possible with a shipping quote.
Refunds and Exchanges
I try to be completely honest and detailed in my item descriptions so you, my potential customer, can get a very good idea of what you're looking at. However, if for any reason you're not happy with your purchase, please simply contact me and I will try my hardest to make it right.
Additional policies and FAQs
Vintage/antique items are sold as is. I do my very best to be accurate in my description and presentation of each item, and list any and all flaws. Please be sure to read entire descriptions for full details as I sometimes get really excited when describing something and may get carried away with the text. :) I'm always happy and available to answer any questions you may have.
