"I love color and the hardest part of designing is limiting myself and not going overboard."
I have always had a love for things handmade. In 1992, my mother and I opened a handmade crafts store in Clearwater, Florida, which I ran for 19 years. We sold amazing artists, and met wonderful people along the way. I knew ALEXIS BITTAR before he was famous!
During that time, I made and sold my own jewelry, and amassed quite a bead collection. In 2012 I was married, and in 2014 I had to move to the country of Panama, and close my beloved shop. I had a huge sale, and took what I couldn't part with, along with all my crafts and beads, and made the trip down south. The birth of my daughter soon followed.
I miss my artistic community so much down here in Panama, and I can't stop doing what I love. You would not believe what I had to do to get all of my supplies and beads down here in one piece...But I did.
I named my shop OoKiYaYa, because it is such a happy sound. Your mouth must "smile" to form the word. It doesn't mean anything, just the YaYa sound my daughter calls EVERYTHING, and ookii. It may mean something in japanese...
