About

Fiber Artist Upcycling t-shirts, thrift store finds, seconds and discards into eco-fashion clothing, accessories and home goods.

15 years ago, at the time I was finishing my design classes, a friend and I began talking. We started coming up with fun statements. Most had a setup, a pause "..." and then a punch line. 'oh we should put them on t-shirts!' and so we began printing. I continued collecting quotes over intervening years and have put them on t-shirts for selling at local craft fairs and farmers markets.

More recently I was looking for an intermediate step to owning my own printer and I really like the idea of reusing and upcycling materials. I had also been loving all of the shredded and braided outfits on my fellow dancers. I found someone who taught me how to upcycle shirts. Then with a small collection of used shirts, I began shredding and braiding. The first week with no advertising a third of my stock sold. Thus the recycled/upcycled part of Dot Dot Dot was born.
In addition braiding and hand dying I have a goal of purchasing a direct to garment printer for my original designs.

Shortly after beginning upcycling I saw a flyer for inkodye also saw some "tumbledye" on sale. Of course I could not resist having more tools for ways to upcycle fabric. Which brings us to the present day where I am now reusing pre-owned pillowcases, t-shirts, fabric remnants, napkins, sheets and odd bits of clothing.

The two most recent additions to the shop are WayFarer scarves and chicken feed shopping bags. Dancers (and other travelers) can really use a lightweight scarf to keep warm in the ballroom while waiting to compete or watching routines. One that will pack down small for travel. Wayfarers are the size of a single bed sheet and pack down to the size of a t-shirt. Animal feed bags are made out of plastic tarp but are in a shape that's hard to reuse as is. We reshape them into shopping bags with a very durable woven handle. To date, there are bags that are six years old and still going strong.
I hope you'll find something you like on my Etsy store or you'll have an idea for something you'd like me to make.
Thanks for stopping by!
