Dovetail Ink Takes Flight
Dovetail Ink is the silver lining to a 2013 surgery that required downtime.
That winter, I started doodling around prayers I wanted to learn. I would put them on my fridge to remind me to keep learning and praying. The little piece of artwork would catch my eye, and I would pause for a moment and shift my focus to things above.
As an at-home mom with two young kids, I didn't have much time to sit and draw. Then I had surgery. Sitting was my only option. I officially dusted off my college art minor and started more contemplative drawing around prayers that I wanted to meditate on and remember. After giving a few prints to appreciative friends, I realized that my art could serve as a call to prayer for women outside my small circle. Dovetail Ink took flight.
I love learning about new prayers (Catholic and otherwise), saints, and cultures, and enjoy the challenge of tying them together in a bright, contemporary way. I am blessed to work with a small, locally-owned printshop that works closely with me to professionally run prints, notecards and prayercards that retain the feel of my original art.
I look forward to sharing it with you. Peace be with you!
