    About DowntoEarthenware

    Sales 100
    On Etsy since 2013

I want my pottery to possess a ‘down-to-earth’ feeling, while retaining functionality, which provides the inspiration for the name DowntoEarthenware.

I’m a Lutheran high school art teacher with a passion for playing with mud. I am blessed to be able to share and incorporate my faith into my teaching as I contribute to the formation of young adults through our combined artistic efforts. Students are drawn to items that have a purpose they can envision. I get to watch and nurture the formation and eventual fruition of each vision.

The functionality of pottery is something that has always been intriguing. My focus is creating items that people can appreciate and put to good use. I enjoy observing a person touch, hold, explore and examine my piece. My hands formed the clay, building a unique piece and each piece is personal, each piece is an extension of myself. There is no greater satisfaction than when one of my pieces becomes meaningful to the beholder.

I enjoy the challenge of making custom orders, so if you need or want something that I don’t have in the store, please contact me.

My focus is found in the functionality of pottery use in the home. As a potter, I have always been fascinated with the idea that a personal connection can be made through the experience of owning a piece of pottery.
