Dragonfly Creations

Hi! My name is Leslie and I am a social worker and artist in Seattle, Washington! I am thankful to be working with at-risk/opportunity youth in King County, Washington. I specialize in education and employment services - I work at a local non-profit organization where I direct employment training programming for marginalized and underserved youth; we teach them things like how to look for, get, and keep a job, place them in paid internships, and we also guide them to explore the careers they are interested in. Social work is a tough job, though, and several years ago I realized I needed a creative, therapeutic outlet to calm my mind in my off time. After taking some printmaking and other art classes at a local community college, my new business, Dragonfly Creations, came into existence!!

I specialize in decorative arts.  The products that I create and sell include ornaments as well as mosaic and embellished boxes. The imagery and subject matter depicted come from nature and I typically use bright colors and incorporate multiple textures and recycled materials.  I sometimes include inspiring, empowering quotes in my work. As I have gotten busier over the years, my mom has started helping me make my star ornaments!

Because I believe art should be accessible to all, I sell my work at prices that I feel are respectful to my time, effort, and material costs, yet are low enough to make my merchandise affordable. My decorative boxes range between about $26 and $35, and mosaic pieces range from $35 to $70.  I occasionally have a specialty box that I price at $50 - $80, but I typically have only one or two of these at a time. My ornaments are between $12 and $15.

As I have grown and developed as an artist, I am hearing more and more often that people are moved by the things that I create.  The fact that my creations are affordable allows my customers to purchase items that uplift their spirits. This makes me really happy!!! I am new to Etsy but have been selling at local Pacific Northwest arts and craft fair for over seven years. Over the next several months, I will be working to build my Etsy site and bring you more pretty, heartwarming treasures!
