The jug that started it all...

My husband and I bought our first home after years of renting. I was very excited that I could finally decorate how I wanted. The only problem was I didn't know what my style was. One day I was walking around a "Main St." in a small town and wandered into an antique store. I always saw antiques as dark and heavy pieces and never really thought to have them in my home. As I was walking around, I saw "it" sitting in the middle of the store all beat up... an old white milk jug, paint chipped and dented. I didn't know why but I knew I had to have it. So I bought it... $10! Took it home and just stared at it, intrigued, trying to figure out what the pull was. This jug went against every style I thought I wanted, but I loved everything about it, and knew I wanted more. I'm still working on my own collections and treasures, but I enjoy it so much, I want to share some of my finds and upcycled creations with others. That's when I looked for ways to showcase my items and came across Etsy. My store is just a baby, but I have a goal to fill it with beautiful things and maybe, just maybe, somebody will see something in my shop that they, for some unknown reason, just have to have.

~2013 Update~

It's been 1 year and 4 days since my first sale. :) I've learned so much over the past year and met a lot of wonderful people. When I started painting, I didn't have a specialty, I was just painting a little bit of everything, but I've discovered I enjoy creating beautiful jewelry boxes the most. Because each box is unique and one of a kind, I love giving each it's own name. Sometimes coming up with a suitable name takes a few days, other times it just comes to me, I love naming them though, it's as if it completes their transformations from a neglected, beat up box that somebody threw away to a beautiful treasure holder that will be cherished for years.
