    About DumpsterFireCandle

Video summary: A sneak peak at my process to make a Dumpster Fire Candle.

    Why a "Dumpster Fire Candle?"

The creation of the Dumpster Fire Candle came to be as a result of both personal and global challenges in the year 2016. It was a dark year for so many, and I found myself using the term “dumpster fire” when talking about our nation’s political climate or describing the illogical and hateful ideology of my state’s—North Carolina—leadership. Oh yeah and remember all those talented musicians, artists, leaders, writers, comedians and acting legends that died in 2016? Good grief.

The United States presidential election results. And then, my beloved dog died one week later.

There was a lot of negativity floating around in 2016 and I desperately wanted to turn the corner and find some light. One evening the idea to create a literal dumpster fire popped into my brain. It’s an image that is devastating and funny at the same time, but it seemed dangerous and illegal to blaze a real dumpster. The challenge: how can I scale this down and make it accessible without compromising the metaphor of a burning dumpster? Thus, a candle in the shape of a dumpster was born.

My hope is that people see this Dumpster Fire Candle and it makes them smirk. I also hope that these same sinisters buy the candle and proudly burn it or just put it on display. It represents redemption, letting go or just some good old fashioned hatred. Burn, baby, burn.

    Frequently asked questions
    Sizing details

The candle's dimensions are 2.75" wide by 2.125" deep by 1.875" tall. It's cute. It fits in your hand.

    How long does it burn?

The Dumpster Fire Candle has roughly an 8 hour burn time. We suggest the first burn should be between 1 and 2 hours and subsequent burns no longer than 2 hours.

What should I burn this on?

Always burn on a fire resistant, level surface. A small plate, saucer or proper candle plate is suggested. The wax WILL spill out at some point and can make a mess if it's not contained.

I love the way it looks. Do I have to burn this?

Nope! You don't have to burn your Dumpster Fire Candle. A lot of people just keep it on display. In smaller sized rooms, the scent fills the room, even when unlit.

Can I request a color/scent combination that you don't offer?

Unfortunately, no. We are not accepting custom combinations at this time.

Will you put my logo on this?

No. I cannot put any custom logos/symbols onto the candle itself or on the packaging. You are more than welcome to add your own logo to it after you receive it in whatever way works for you. Some people have added a sticker to the backside of the candle. I can't vouch for whether or not it stayed stuck to the wax.

Why does my candle look "chalky?"

This is called "frosting" in the biz and is a completely normal and natural occurrence with soy wax. There's nothing to prevent it, but here's a pro tip: if you don't like how it looks, holding your hair blower on low heat to it will make it temporarily go away.

Do you offer discounts for larger orders?

Technically, no. But we do offer a few bundles that are discounted. No substitutions in the bundles, though.
