About

My Etsy shop is the culmination of a life-long exploration of color, whimsy, texture and emotion!

I imagine my love of art started when I was a toddler, and, having been given a big box of crayons, happily tried every one of them to see what beautiful and colorful swirls they could create.

To this day, I love blending colors together to create different emotions within my artwork. My mood has a great deal to do with what I paint - I can be in a serene mood or energetically working with bold and bright colors.

As I went through school, I found that I loved art so much, that I volunteered to participate in many school projects that would allow me to use my art on a broader scale. I helped with the paint crew for plays and proms and also was chosen to be part of the group of painters who would go out and paint store windows, during various holidays.

I majored in graphic design in college and was very much attracted to bold black and white images. I also explored with many type font images, creating strong black and white designs. In college, I discovered my love and knack for cartooning and used that art style for the school newspaper. That was actually a profound turning point in my life, as I have worked cartoon and whimsy into my art style ever since. My art style in college was also influenced by my painting classes and I painted very realistic and traditional works of art for a few years. However, I would from then on continue to revert back to my love of color and whimsy.

During my 'child raising' years when my children were very young, my creativity manifested itself in making works of art with my kids. As they went through school, I volunteered in various school festivals and programs, using my art in more 'child-like' and whimsical forms. I didn't start painting again until my children were in high school. I also started networking with other Moms who painted about what other areas they explored where they could use their love of art. I volunteered in various charity events, using my art as more of a craft.

I have also been participating in art shows and galleries for the past several years and connecting with other artists and that information has been invaluable. I also found out, during the recession, when not many paintings were selling, that many artists had discovered that they could sell various manufactured versions of their artwork - from note cards to prints to tote bags, pillows, etc. and this had greatly affected my selling opportunities. I've started selling note cards and art prints during the recession to 'brick and mortar' stores and have continued to sell various products printed with my designs since the economy has rebounded.

It wasn't until the early 2000's that I started hearing about websites like Etsy where artists could actually sell their products and make money on line!! For women of my age, there was quite a bit of time 'B.C' or Before Computer, so this was not something that I had worked with for long. I find it fascinating that I can communicate with other artists who have similar tastes as I do, and we can support each other by sharing tips for a successful art shop. Seeing all of the various styles of art has inspired me with new ideas for paintings. I've also discovered the palette knife as a tool to use for a unique texture in my paintings. I love making bold and colorful swirls on the canvas - it truly does make me feel wonderful and fills me with a great feeling of accomplishment.

Additional policies and FAQs
All of the designs seen in my shop are from original paintings lovingly created by me. Because of the variation of computer monitors, the colors you see on your computer may vary slightly from the actual item. However, I am REALLY pleased with the way my printer has duplicated the colors in my original paintings and I feel you'll be very happy with the way it looks!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my artwork.
