Announcement   The Mysteries of the Ancients with a 21st Century Spirit

During the First Millennium ancient scribes spent lifetimes creating the beautifully illustrated and lettered manuscripts which are now considered National treasures. These scribes developed and invented a form of art that has come to be called "Celtic". The Celtic style actually includes many more-ancient styles, as well as influences from other cultures with which they had contact. These artists and artisans went on to use this style in many mediums, including stone, metals and the pages of the manuscripts, the most recognizable of these is the Book of Kells.

Since then, many people have studied the illustrations in these books to understand how they created such works, and the meaning behind the art. While the actual methods used have been theorized and demonstrated for authenticity, the meaning behind the style has remained a mystery for thousands of years. But, that doesn't prevent artists from attempting to find their own meaning in creating Celtic Art.

EFRooney uses the concepts and principles of this style to infuse a new spirit into Celtic Art. We hope you enjoy these journeys from the past into the future.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message us. Artists appreciate feedback from their work, and EFRooney is no exception :)

Thank you for your interest in Celtic art!

About

MC Escher and Celtic Knotwork combine in EFRooneyCeltic original art

EFRooneyCeltic began 10 years ago. Being a graphic designer for 35 years for various companies, EFR decided to start creating some Celtic designs of his own based on the ones he admired from his native Irish ancestors. Years after his first renderings of Celtic knotwork, he is now a master manipulator of this art.

He pours countless hours into each piece, and it is obvious he truly loves what he does. It is amazing to watch him take a single image he sees somewhere out in the world, bring it onto the screen and then completely revamp it into what you see in the shop (

I always tell him I don't know where these ideas keep coming from. "Neither do I," he says. Purely talented and truly one of the most humble people I know. That's why I wanted to bring his artwork to a public forum and decided Etsy was the perfect place to do so!

-EFRooneyCeltic as described by the artist's daughter, BRooney

EFRooneyCeltic was formed by EFRooney, the artist and graphic designer. He creates and prints the images, and creates and applies the design on the frames.
EFRooney occasionally gets help from his daughter, BRooney and wife, MRooney who help run the online store and package the items sold.

We hope you enjoy these prints, and check out some of his other works at
