Each piece tells a story
I am well travelled and have lived and worked in several countries. This fabulous mix of experiences, influences and cultures has inspired my jewelry designs. I’ve always had a particular love of the ocean, and discovered the joy of beach combing for seaglass while living in Bermuda. It was this experience that launched my jewelry-making journey. Today, many years later, seaglass is the focus of my jewelry design although I have expanded my collection to include a range of other coastal-inspired jewelry and gifts.
Years ago my high school art teacher was disappointed I didn't apply to art college. She told me she could see me majoring in jewelry design, something I had never even considered. But she obviously recognized something in me that I didn't! My studies and my career took me in a very different direction. I started to make jewelry as a hobby about 12 years ago, just small pieces for myself, then as gifts for family and friends. I received lots of compliments and requests to make special orders, and suddenly I found I had developed a small business.
When working with sea glass and sea pottery I love speculating on the history of each piece before it was weathered and smoothed by the rough and tumble of the surf. Each jewelry piece is truly a fragment of history and could tell a tale! It’s also a joy to be creating something new and special by recycling beach treasure made from discarded glass items.
I enjoy working on commissions - designing jewelry to match a particular outfit, adding initial charms to personalize a piece, and designing matching sets for weddings or other family celebrations. I hope you enjoy browsing - and please contact me if you have any questions!
