About

Slow Fashion and Handcrafts

Hi there! My name is Elizabeth and I’m the hands, heart and brain behind EKhandcrafts.

My mom taught me how to make a simple granny square blanket one afternoon when I was in high school and since then, crocheting has been my favorite method of managing anxiety and stress. I eventually taught myself how to knit as well, and use the two crafts interchangeably depending on what I’m designing. I also really enjoy weaving, print making, and painting––creative passions that are reflected in my shop’s inventory when I’m feeling especially inspired.

I love working with natural fibers like wool, alpaca, cotton, etc. but I also love the unfussy wear and washability of synthetics like quality acrylic and polyester, so I work with both. I enjoy challenging custom orders and wholesale orders. Please feel free to reach out with your ideas.

Last summer my husband and I moved to Pheonix, Arizona from my hometown Portland, Oregon and adopted a sweet little pup named Stevie who makes appearances on my Instagram and Facebook pages.

Be sure to add me on Instagram and Facebook @EKhandcrafts for updates, special promotions and coupon codes.

Thanks for reading! EK

Frequently asked questions
How long do custom orders take to ship?

Processing time for custom orders varies depending on the complexity of the design and how long it will take me to acquire all the necessary materials. My turnaround time for most custom orders is 5 days to 2 weeks. When possible, I am more than happy to put a rush on custom orders for an additional fee.

How do I care for my new knitwear creation?

Most of my 100% wool items should be hand washed in cool water with mild detergent and air dried in a clean and dry location.

Most of my wool / synthetic blend items can be either hand washed and air dried, or machine washed and dried on low heat, preferably in a mesh lingerie bag.

Most of my 100% acrylic items can be machine washed and dried on low heat, preferably in a mesh lingerie bag.

Most of my 100% cotton /cotton blend items can be hand washed in cool water and mild detergent or machine washed on low heat, preferably in a mesh lingerie bag, and air dried.

Every order I ship out comes with with a care instructions card specific to the item--when in doubt, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Are your items made in a smoke-free environment?

Yes!

Are your items made in a cat-free environment?

Yes! No kitties around here. My husband is very, very allergic.

Are your items made in a dog-free environment?

Nope. My little Stevie girl is allowed in my work space but I take great care to keep her away from my yarn stashes, finished items, and packing materials... so, no pup fur on the merchandise. :)

I saw an item you posted on Instagram/Facebook/your website but I don't see it in your shop. Does that mean it's sold out?

If you're interested in purchasing an item that is no longer in stock, pleas contact me about setting up a custom order. I'm happy to remake past items, excluding some items that specifically say "one of a kind".
