Announcement   Artisan sterling silver and gold jewelry, handmade pendants, earrings, bracelets, and rings. I am a silversmith goldsmith metalsmith with 35 years of experience. Want something made special for you? I enjoy doing custom design, just send me a message.

My name is Elise and I design and handmake all of the jewelry in my home studio. My work is a mix of limited production and original, one of a kind design.

I ship via the USPS insured mail. The images you see represent the piece I will ship.

I am a proud juried member of the Etsymetal Team: http://etsymetal.com

I enjoy the process of metalsmithing, there is a certain intimacy in the shaping and joining of small parts that is rhythmic in nature. My jewelry is contemporary in style, meticulously hand-crafted, and made to endure. It is designed to be worn daily with either casual or evening fashions. Many of my pendants come with chains which can be worn at two different lengths making them more versatile with your wardrobe.

I am proud of the heirloom quality my jewelry possesses. I choose to work mainly in silver, however, any piece can easily be custom made in the karat gold of your choice.

Thank you for visiting my shop. I try to add new work weekly so come back and visit soon!

About

I move metal...

I started my business in 1992 while I was still in graduate school and working as a goldsmith. I knew by the time I was finished with school I would want to be self employed. I like to explore many ways to form, texture, pattern and color metal.

My favorite process is forging. I make many hand forged pieces in silver and gold. I like watching the movement of the metal, I like the rhythm of the hammer. I enjoy moving the metal into tapering lines and graceful curves. I am also constantly amazed by the fact that an image/idea that begins in my mind is transformed into a physical reality. That being said, forging has it's down side... it is time consuming, each piece starts with a square rod of metal ( which must be annealed (the metal is heated to soften it), then pickled( put in a mild acidic bath to clean it), and then forged (hammered on an anvil). The forging process compresses the molecular structure of the metal (hardening it), therefore, each piece must be annealed, pickled, and forged numerous times before the final shape is realized.

I also make earrings, pendants and bracelets from cast silver reproductions of antique glass buttons. A good friend of mine collects antique buttons. She would visit me in my studio and clean them in my ultrasonic cleaner. I thought they were beautiful and would look great in sterling silver. So started my line "Button Jewelry".

I do custom work. I am happy to help my customers and make something they cannot find, or have designed themselves.

Care instructions

Silver is a beautiful metal which over time will tarnish. To help prevent your silver jewelry from tarnishing keep it stored in a plastic bags or in anti-tarnish jewelry bags. After wearing silver wipe it with a soft cloth or polishing cloth before storing to remove finger prints, body oils etc. To clean your jewelry first try a polishing cloth. Another method is to mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water and let piece soak for 1-2 minutes. Dip in a soft cloth and rub the jewelry, then rinse in cool water and buff with a soft cloth until dry. If your jewelry is very tarnished use a silver paste cleaner. Follow directions on the paste cleaner. Be careful of soft stones like Turquoise, Lapis, Pearl and Opal.
