About

The Passion of Light

When I am doing photography, I become completely absorbed in what I am shooting. The sense of “I” and “it” vanish and there is only one. I am captured by what is presented to me! There is a connection that takes place - a connection to something much greater than myself. It is the point where separation dissolves and I get a glimpse of the oneness of everything!

A piece of art should move you. In some way, you should feel something stir within you. Whether it's anger or love or sadness or happiness or down right awe, whatever it is, you should feel something! That's what art is about!

It is amazing to me to go look at the paintings and photographs of some of the old masters. It is easy to just look at them and see them as a pretty painting or photo, but when you pause and just look, just look with your heart and your mind open, you start to actually feel a connection to the artist. Don't just look at the painting, look at each little brush stroke and know that was made by a living hand that is now dead! WOW! That is absolutely amazing to me! Look at an Ansel Adams photo, and see all the work that went into making it a work of art. The time traveling out to the right spot. The waiting hours, sometimes days for just the perfect moment! Setting up his equipment, getting all of his settings perfect, and pressing the shutter release. And that's only half of the story! How he developed his negatives, how he worked with his photos in the darkroom to bring to life the vision he saw in his head and felt in his heart! Allow yourself to see all of that while you are standing there experiencing this photo! That is the power of art! To truly transcend time and connect one person to another, one time to another, to connect all things! I get the chills thinking about that!

This is what I endeavor to bring to the world with my photography. I am not drawn to take a photo because of any sort of logical thinking that says with this light and this composition I can take this photo. Of course there are all the technical details of taking the shot, however these are just the techniques that any artist will train him or herself so that when the time is right, they are automatic and the artist can simply use them without thinking in order to realize their vision. No, what draws me to click the shutter is a feeling that is conjured by the scene that is presented to me. I know that without that feeling, the shot just won't be any good, no matter what I do to it. It doesn't always mean that the shot will be good either. Sometimes, no matter how hard I try, it just won't work out the way I want it to. This is a signal to me that my skills are not equal to my vision, and this signal drives me on to learn more and hone my craft further so that in the future I will be able to create what I see and feel inside me. This is a process of constantly learning and growing. I don't see there being an end point. At least I hope there isn't one!

I hope that when you look at what I have created, you feel something. You may not be able to put a word to it, but the feeling is there. Verbal communication is so limited, it is so small. Words can never really express the truth, they can only allude to it. Truth lies in experience, and if you look at one of my images and you experience something, then you will have a little piece of the truth to carry with you.

The Passion of Light is about that which is evoked and communicated through the experience of the world around us. We begin to understand in a way much deeper than a rational understanding all that we experience through all of our senses. What each person will experience when he or she views a work of art will be that person's alone. Fundamentally, we are all one, and at the same time we each have our own individual experience, we each speak in our own language, we all relate differently to what we see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. Our thoughts are different. Our feelings are different. And this is absolutely beautiful! We can use these different points of view to learn more about each other and about ourselves!

I chose to sell on Etsy because I love the idea behind it. That it is about community. It is about relationships with people. That there are actual people behind these shops. When you come to my shop, I am the face behind it all. When you have a question, I am there to answer it. We are all here together on this planet, and even though we may be separated by hundreds or thousands of miles, we can still find a place where we can communicate. The internet has allowed us as a global society to become much closer. We can talk to someone on the other side of the world almost instantly! That is amazing when you think about it! Etsy is like a global-hometown market. It isn't just about selling our wares, it's about connecting with people we might not have otherwise met and building friendships across all borders.

Hey there!

I'm glad you found me!

I specialize in high-end limited edition fine art photographic prints. The prints I have for sale use the absolute best photographic paper and printing process available! I want you to be completely blown away by the print that you receive! And I want to help you add some more beauty to your home that will last several lifetimes!

Lately, I have been getting inundated with requests for prints that will still be absolutely beautiful and at the same time be more affordable. I have looked around and have found an alternative that strikes the perfect balance between quality and value.

I have decided to offer open edition prints of some of my most popular images. These will be inkjet prints on high gloss paper printed by a professional print shop.

As always, I want you to feel comfortable with your purchase, so please, if you have any questions at all feel free to "convo" me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I can also help you with sizing information as well as custom orders.

Cheers!

Eric

Payment
If you find something you like, simply add it to your cart, and, upon check out, you can easily pay with your credit or debit card either directly through my Etsy shop or via PayPal (and you don't even need a PayPal account in order to use PayPal)

Once your payment is received I will begin crafting your very own piece of art to adorn your wall.
Shipping
Items will be shipped to the addresslisted in your ETSY RECEIPT, not your Paypal address. Please make sure it is the correct address. If a package is returned to me because of an incorrect address, I will have to charge for shipping again.

I can ship through USPS, UPS, or FedEx. If you have a shipping preference please let me know when you place your order. If this results in a higher shipping rate, we can easily take care of it through PayPal.

Please allow for up to seven business days for the printing and inspection process before your item is shipped.

I will ship prints that are 10x15 and smaller flat, reinforced, and protected from moisture. Larger prints may need to be shipped rolled.

I will ship multiple items together at no additional charge, so please look around the store and see if there are any other items you like to add to your home, or that you would like to give to someone you love as a gift.

International orders may require extra time due to customs and other factors that I cannot control. International import duties, taxes, and/or VATs are not something that I am able to take care of from my quaint little shop, so they are, unfortunately, something that you will need to address on your end. Sorry, but I cannot mark your package as a gift.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want to make sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase!

In order to provide the absolute best possible customer service, I personally deal with any issues that may arise on a case by case basis.

If there are ANY problems please contact me immediately via "convo" so that we can resolve the issue to your satisfaction!

Any additional charges (return shipping, etc.) that may be incurred will be the responsibility of the customer.
