1 out of 5 starsThis was my first ever purchase with Etsy. I was taken aback by the £17 excess charge I had to pay when the parcel arrived at my local post office. I understand I should have read the terms and conditions properly as this was a Custom fee and associated admin fee. I am used to Amazon where even from the states the price you pay is price you pay. But when I asked Emily Wallace about it she was incredibly rude and impolite and even accused me of trying to 'scam' her. It was a horrible exchange. The scarf itself was much more flimsy than it looks when I got it, weighing almost nothing, and overall it was a very poor experience.
Emily Wallace responded on Aug 17, 2021
The buyer messaged me, accusing me of not paying enough shipping on her item--when I actually paid more for shipping than she paid me for shipping-- demanding that I pay her VAT fees (which she didn't understand when she made the purchase). When I tried explaining that her country charges VAT, she wanted me to cover the cost, even though Etsy policy states that the buyer is responsible for fees in their country. I told her if she sent scarf back, I would refund her money--but that would require her to pay the initial fee she was disputing. The scarf was as described and the only reason she complained about it was because she had to pay an extra VAT fee to receive it from her post office. I was on the losing end of this transaction because of the discounted price of the scarf and the unfair negative review she left.

Weaving in North Alabama
I've been fascinated by weaving since I was a child, but I began weaving on rigid heddle and traditional floor looms after opening my yarn shop in 2015. My inspiration comes from ancient and modern forms of weaving around the world. I use a variety of fibers--both natural and synthetic--in my woven items. I love working with exotic fibers that my customers can't find every day. Above all, weaving brings me joy and a feeling of productivity. I'm happy to take custom orders and I specialize in Scottish/Irish/Welsh tartan designs, so please message me with inquiries.
All items are handwoven in my weaving studio in North Alabama.
