About

I love cold weather but I hate being cold!

Maybe it’s because I grew up on the north Atlantic coastline, but I love cold weather. Bringing out the scarves and hats and mittens from storage each autumn is like being reunited with old friends. Seeing my breath on those crisp autumn mornings and hearing the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot are some of my favourite things. Here’s the funny part though; I love cold weather but I hate being cold!

Thank goodness my mother taught me to knit when I was a child. It is a passion and creative outlet that has stayed with me into adulthood. And it is practical too. Someone once told me if you know how to knit, you’ll never be cold. I started knitting scarves and mitts as a young girl and never stopped. And I don’t think I ever will stop, which is why I decided to open shop and start sharing my creations.

All of the pieces you see in my shop are handmade in my home studio in Nova Scotia, Canada. I use a vintage domestic knitting machine from the 1960s in combination with hand-knitting to produce high-quality knits with designs inspired from classic textiles like houndstooth as well as traditional knitting motifs from Scandinavia and Shetland. I prefer using finer yarn and natural materials which means that the final product is lightweight but still toasty warm.

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope my items keep you toasty and warm (and stylish too) on those cool autumn mornings and long winter nights.
