Unique and beautiful, I absolutely love it! The clip mechanism itself also is very sturdy, which is great for my thicker hair.

About

Love of nature, land and art

My work is everything to me, I love what I do!
I get up every day looking forward to walking to work to start my day with my best friend and husband in our coastal rain forest surrounded work shop / studio located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada.
We live with our animal family, big dog Jack, Cedar Cat and Tippy the flying squirrel.
I'm now in my 50's and have work all my adult life making art. I studied painting, drawing and sculpture in collage and university for 5 years in my early 20's.
Made my move from the prairies to the British Columbia's west coast in my early 30's where I first started to create lost wax jewelry designs. This is when I meet my partner / husband Marshall, who is a master goldsmith and sculptor, together we embarked on our adventure of getting out of the city and putting down our roots in the country.
We found 4 acres of bare land that we could afford and began to build our dream shop. Once we had our our work shop ready, we found an older mobile home that we moved on to the land so we could be there full time.

It's now been over twenty years that we have live on the land, we built a small art village it seems. The mobile home served as our home for 16 years until one crazy night when we woke up to a electrical fire that just started in our small hallway, we are so lucky to be telling our story. We were able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher before it got out of control. It was a huge wake up call, it was time to build our dream house. That was 4 years ago and we now are living in our lovely new house we designed and built. We are blessed to wake up everyday to look out at roofs of our shop and studio surrounded by the forest with peekaboo views of the ocean. Our home that feels like a tree house because we built it on the highest spot on our land. It has taken us twenty years to get this far and the journey of getting here has been the best part, the next twenty plus years is still awaiting us, the adventure continues.

My Earthly Creature Designs are a growing collection of small sculpture, garden stakes, home decor, jewelry and hair barrettes, all inspired by my love of nature. Based on natural forms found in the flora and fauna of the pacific west coast rain forest ecosystems. A backyard collection that's is my personal diary in a sense, of what I need to preserve and hold on too.

All works are my original lost wax designs, reproduced in pewter and electroplated with copper. I work in silver and bronze as well but in this shop I'm featuring my pewter / copper works.
My Earthly Creature Designs are small batch production made in our workshop by me and my part time helper Natalie. Marshall is busy with his creative work and helps out when he is needed.
Keeping true to the handmade spirit working with our hands, skill and creativity.
Each work is made with care to create a collectible quality art object or jewel piece.
We do every aspect of the creation of our Earthly Creatures but the copper plating which we use an outside plating company who are experts in that field.

We are committed to be part of the hand made community locally and globally!
Thank you for letting us in your world and sharing our story.
