Spectacular! The frame is newly arrived and ready for me to work with, so right now it looks like scenery from “A Nightmare Before Christmas “, but it is rife with possibilities. It is beautifully, skillfully made & I can’t wait to get busy :-)

About

Striving to make the most faithful miniature replicas of a great variety of trees

I have always loved trees. Climb them, hug them, draw them, watch their branches sway gently in a light breeze or dramatically in a wind storm, see the subtle color changes of their developing spring leaves and the dramatic burst of color of the flowering trees - or just sit on a quiet day taking in the beauty of their form, the pleasure of their shade.

Loving turned to creating nineteen years ago and was influenced by the fact I was in my "natural" stage. I started by using all natural foliage that I gathered and preserved myself. I refused to use paint, wire or any man made material. Since most of what I made was either white or brown, the appeal was, shall we say, limited! But a couple of people did buy them and that gave me a sense of confidence and purpose. Eventually I relented and ground up colored chalk and sprinkled it on the foliage to infuse color. Needless to say, it didn't work very well but it was a step forward. Someone in our miniature club gave a session on twisting a tree frame from wire. It took several more years before I was willing to introduce wire into my all-natural tree making, but when I did, the results were way better, the possibilities way greater and the creation of species-specific trees was born. From that time, so many ideas rushed in that I was obsessed with making trees for about a decade. While doing one tree, a dozen others would be urgently calling me to figure out how to create them.

Today, I am more relaxed with the work and can focus on the pleasure of the unfolding of something lovely coming out of my hands, something that started with some messy wires, some plaster, a roll of tape, a bottle of glue and a big pile of natural foliage of some kind. Something that usually, amazingly, turns out to be beautiful (in my eyes, at least.)

So welcome to my forest. On Etsy, I am listing only items I have in stock, but if you are interested in seeing more, please visit www.virtualdollhouse.net which has pictures of other things that have sold. Click on EarthScapes by Heath . . . Naturally. It's at the top of the listings. Perhaps that will get you thinking of something you'd like me to make for you. Give me a description and/or a photo, and I will love creating for you. And thank you for coming into my shop.

Just a few practical things. I've added sections to the shop so you can easily find do-it-yourself opportunities and items for sale. Included is a section on tree accessories that currently has only magnolia blossoms. But I'm working on apples, citrus fruit, coconuts, and mahogany nuts.

My mission is to flood the miniature world with beautiful trees. When I started, there weren't many (and mine weren't that great either.) Now there are a number of providers who make beautiful trees in a variety of ways, so my goal is being fulfilled. But to further this goal, I started developing ways people could own my trees less expensively.

First, I started selling completed frames that people could foliate for themselves any way they wanted to. A frame that is faithful to the form of the tree is the most difficult part, and this way others could have the satisfaction of making that frame become beautiful through their own creativity.

Next, I realized that I could offer kits for the smaller trees, and have kits for dogwoods, white birch and red bud trees, potted pygmy palms (featured in Doll House Miniature Magazine in 2010) and a variety of Bonsai. These are not all on Etsy, because I list only items in stock on Etsy. But you can see pictures of other trees I have made on www.virtualdollhouse.net.

Finally, it dawned on me that I could put trees that didn't quite suit me in one way or another on sale. Something I didn't admire might be just what someone else would want. In the listing, I tell you a bit about the tree and why I put it on sale. If you are interested in a sale tree and want to know more about it, please contact me and I'll tell you its story.

So welcome not only to my forest but also to the range of offerings you'll find there. Because the site is new, keep an eye on it as I will be adding to it when I get the chance.

Returns and exchanges
I want you to love your trees as much as I do, so if you are not satisfied, I'd rather you return it than keep it and not be completely happy. Contact me within 7 days of receipt and we will work out a solution together- return for refund or restyling, replace, how to handle the postage, etc.
Payment
You can charge your purchase with VISA, Master Charge, and any other card Etsy accepts or an Etsy gift card. If you want to use Paypal, please contact me.

Should you need to cancel an in stock order, I will refund your purchase in full. If you cancel a custom order after I have started it, I will have to deduct 20% from the refund for materials, etc. However, if you receive a custom order and are not satisfied, I will certainly refund the full purchase price. (See "Refund Policy" below.)
Shipping
1-3 days on items in stock, but if you are custom ordering, we will need to talk about and agree on a completion date. So far, I have never missed a date promised.

I usually ship Priority 2 day with tracking and insurance. If a package should be damaged in shipping, please contact me and keep the packaging and a picture of the damaged tree so we can verify the damage for insurance reimbursement.

Regarding international shipping, the use of natural, preserved foliage may prohibit importation of most of my items in some countries. I am currently developing a line of trees that uses man made materials for foliage in order to expand to countries outside of the US. The magnolia blossoms, the fruit and the unfoliated tree frames are cleared for international shipping as well as the white dogwood and the dogwood kits.
Additional policies and FAQs
CUSTOM ORDER PRICING: The pricing on any custom orders is usually the same as a comparable item in my Etsy shop; there is no extra charge except, possibly, if the request takes me considerably outside the scope of the methods I am accustomed to using. However, I usually welcome unusual requests as an opportunity to expand and grow my skills and as such, still generally keep the costs in line with in stock items.
