Bridgette does wonderful work with fabulous upcycled womens' clothing. She quickly did some additional alterations upon request and the sweater arrived quickly.

This is the sweetest little bolero! I needed something to wear over a simple black dress and this is so stylish and unique. Thank you!!

About

Echo Clothing Company wants to save the planet--one garment at a time.

I began my creative life as a mixed media artist, showing in galleries in the Southeast. My pieces were full of stylish women in fun and flirty fashion--always on the go. While attending an opening at one of the galleries, I was asked if I ever created the clothes in my art pieces. An great idea was born!

I was an avid seamstress growing up and am the daughter of a mom who was fearless when it came to adapting her clothes to fit her current mood. By grabbing what was on hand in my closet, I made my first bolero from a cotton cardigan and a tshirt that got rave comments everywhere I wore it. Was a business really possible? How could I take items that people were tired of or that were out of style and give them a new, and better, life?

Upcycling was just the ticket for me. It combined endless gently-used materials (my color palette if you will) with a passion to make something better than ever before. (Did you know that the average American discards 68 lbs of clothing per year?) Surely, there was a way to recycle the clothing already made into something better, and reduce the amount of energy and waste of making more, more, more.

With this goal in mind, Echo Clothing Company began in 2009 on Etsy. Sales began and I was soon approached by boutiques asking if I could provide wholesale pricing and the volume they needed. In 2010, I branched out to sales reps who traveled regional and major shows, and went entirely into the wholesale side of the business, sadly leaving my Etsy roots behind. (Along the way, I contracted with some wonderful seamstresses here in Georgia who do meticulous work and are a joy!)

Since that time, I have fulfilled my dream of showing at the Atlanta Apparel Mart-- see my display above-- and have enjoyed being represented there, and at other locations, with success. I've held the collegiate licensing for Georgia and Georgia Tech and had some fun selling Alabama colored fan wear. However, I have come to realize that imports from China and Vietnam can provide cute, cutting edge fashion at a price point much lower and at a volume much higher-- than I can. Coupling that, with a need to help with my family's real estate business, and I have slowed down a bit and returned to my roots on Etsy.

This move has allowed me to spend more time on family, while still letting my creativity run wild to make some one-of-a-kind looks for individuals and boutiques alike. I can also still pay my seamstresses a living wage without sacrificing quality. Though I miss the mart shows, I can really branch out on tees and jackets when I get inspired and have more freedom to create when and what I'd like.

I hope you enjoy what you find here on the site. Every garment is carefully crafted to be as individual as the woman who wears it.
