About EchoesOfEla

Welcome to Echoes of Ela!

Years ago I purchased a cheap little beading kit on a whim. Life was very stressful for me at that time and I really craved some creativity. Working a full time demanding job in healthcare and raising two boys, one with nonverbal autism, didn't leave much time for creative pursuits. But for someone who grew up around makers and creatives, not being able to make something with my own two hands left a huge void.
Still, it took three more years for me to take the next step and actually open the kit and begin stringing those little beads. It was as though someone had opened the floodgates for me. Soon I found myself browsing for jewelry related books on frequent outings to the local library with my boys. I was mesmerized by the sheer variety of techniques and began exploring one after another. During my husband's journey through cancer, I found great solace in creating chain maille jewelry at his hospital bedside.
After he recovered, I was more determined than ever to make my dream of learning metalsmithing techniques and selling my jewelry come true. I feel blessed and privileged to know that little pieces of me are scattered throughout the world.
Naturally, my creations have evolved over the years. My own taste embraces both sleek modern and minimalist design and more rustic copper pieces accented with Czech glass beads - a nod to my mother's heritage - and most recently torch fired enamel.
When you purchase a piece of jewelry from my shop, I want you to do so knowing that each and every one of them was created with the utmost care and attention to craftsmanship. Please be sure to like my shop, so you can be notified anytime a new item is added.
Thank you so much for supporting handmade artists like myself who are truly passionate about providing you with high-quality creations that come from the heart.
Have a wonderful day!
Karin
