Creativity, Practicality, Comfort
I live and work deep in the woods of Northwest Oregon, where the trees are tall and the internet is unstable.
My career designing prints and graphics for Fashion, Sportswear and Outdoor Apparel has taught me valuable lessons in the creation of eye-catching designs that look good on clothing and are easy to wear.
The principles are simple:
- Create images that engage the eye and invite the mind to participate.
- Understand and work within the capabilities of the production medium.
- Preserve the comfort, performance and wearability of the garment.
The incorporation of negative space as an active design component compels the viewer to mentally complete the image, and offers them an opportunity to participate in it, affording a more personal connection.
An uncomplicated color story, attention to scale and detail, and understanding of garment fabrication peculiarities ensure product quality that is consistent, affordable and repeatable.
Conservative use of ink, just enough for the desired visual impact, and lots of shirt color showing through the design, minimize distraction and maximize garment comfort, performance and wearability.
I hope you'll enjoy the fruits of these simple principles.
