From architecture to jewelry design
My name is Edith Toledano. I live in northern Israel, in the Galilee region, in a small town close to Nazareth, working from my home studio overlooking the beautiful historic Jezreel Valley.
I am an architect by profession and after quite a few years of working in the field, I felt I needed a change. I have been introduced to the world of jewelry through courses and self-study, and for over a decade I have been focusing on jewelry design and silversmithing.
However, I could not completely break away from the world of architecture and my architectural design concept is reflected in my jewelry: it is modern and minimalist with clean lines, it refers to the body "topography" and combines functionality and form, it is based only on my own original ideas and expresses searching for new solutions.
But the difference is that now I create things with my very own hands, feeling the materials in an unmediated manner and the results are much more immediate. This is a real fun!
I work completely by myself, using traditional materials (silver, gold and semi-precious stones). Each piece of jewelry is individually made in a limited edition or as a one-of-a-kind article, and is entirely handcrafted to the last detail, including the stone settings (bezels), jump rings, ear wires and closures. Each and every item is given my full attention and care and, I put a lot of thought into my work creating it with a great passion.
Since I never use industrial casting and no ready-made components, and due to the nature of handicraft, there are no two identical items in my collection. This creates the feeling of human touch and it is also the charm and beauty of handmade jewelry, which stirs excitement among us, the handicraft enthusiasts.
If you have any questions, you are always welcome to ask and I will be happy to help you.

Edith
