Hi, my name is Carol and I am the Artist/Illustrator behind the designs at EIGHT21 Studios LLC
A LITTLE PAPER HUG, PAINTED BY HAND
Hi, I’m Carol—the watercolor artist, illustrator, and creative heart behind Eight21 Studios.
For more than 17 years I have designed wedding and event stationery. I’ve been turning a pen, a paintbrush, and a little imagination into artwork that tells a story. Until COVID introduced us to Greeting Cards!
I believe the best gifts aren't always the biggest ones. Sometimes they're the little things that say, “I saw this and thought of you.”
That idea is at the heart of everything I create.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Eight21 Studios grew from my love of drawing, painting, paper, and the simple joy of sending something through the mail, and a lot of hustle.
I’ve always been the person who notices the little details, the quirky hobby, the favorite sport, the job someone loves, the place that holds a special memory, and thinks, there should be a card for that.
So I started creating them.
My greeting cards are painted in my signature whimsical watercolor style and designed around those wonderfully specific people in our lives: nurses, teachers, coaches, campers, sports lovers, hairstylists, gardeners, fishermen, grandparents, best friends, and all the people who are impossible to shop for because they deserve something a little more personal, and these categories are hard to find.
I want my cards to feel like a tiny piece of artwork you can actually send...a Paper Hug!
FROM MY BRUSH TO YOUR MAILBOX and beyond-
Every Eight21 Studios design begins with me, my original watercolor artwork.
I sketch with pen, paint with watercolor, add the little details that make the artwork come alive, and then prepare the finished art for professional printing.
My greeting cards are printed on heavyweight card stock and paired with coordinating envelopes, ready to tuck into a mailbox, a gift bag, a lunchbox, a care package, or hand directly to someone you love.
They're blank inside because I believe your words should be the most important part. Smaller than a grocery store card but ample white space to write without being overwhelming...think notecard size. The true industry standard A2 blank card you would find in a boutique and specialty shop. The artwork simply starts the conversation; you do the rest.
THE HEART BEHIND EIGHT21
Eight21 isn't just a name. It has a very personal story.
August 21st was the day my dad passed away, and the number became a quiet reminder of him and the creative spirit he passed along to me. He would have been my biggest cheerleader, but my sister and daughter have stepped into that role now, no worries!
I'm a mom to three grown kids and a very proud Grammie to four grandchildren.
A Louie Award winner in 2024, and a finalist in 2026. Think Grammys for the stationery world.
Being a Grammie has reminded me that creativity doesn't have to be perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes the best artwork is the kind made around a kitchen table, covered in fingerprints, imagination, and love.
I still believe in that kind of creativity.
I still love getting paint on my hands.
I still get excited when a new idea works.
And I still believe there is something wonderfully old-fashioned about receiving a handwritten note in the mail. No one says they don't like to receive something that's not junk mail or a bill ever!
In a world full of texts, emails, and notifications, there is something special about opening the mailbox and finding a little piece of happiness waiting for you.
THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE

You're supporting an independent artist, a small creative business, and the belief that sending a thoughtful note still matters. We take great pride in what we do; customer service is always at the forefront of our products and cards. Shipping is sometimes a challenge, and we try our best to solve those mysteries.
Whether you're looking for the perfect card for someone wonderfully specific, sending a note to camp, celebrating a milestone, or simply looking for something colorful to brighten someone's day...
I hope you find something here that makes you think: “That's so them.”
Thank you for letting me be a tiny part of your celebrations, your friendships, your families, and your stories.
From my studio to your mailbox,
Send the JOY!
Carol
