Art, Science and Craftsmanship
Elada is a Gaelic word that means literally means art, science and craftsmanship * -
My Irish roots spring from Dingle, County Kerry
I am the oldest of 5 siblings, raised by a talented, artist mom and a world traveling, entrepreneur father.
In college, I majored in horticulture, which allowed me to combine a love of science with art and design.
After 14 years in the horticulture industry, I went back to university and taught High School Science for the next 14 years.
I've always been fascinated by glass. I have been collecting antique kitchen glass and scientific glass for years , (What kind of chem teacher doesn't love a flask? ) Then In 2008, I lucked into a part time job with a local stained glass artist. As I began to read and study stained glass I came across kiln glass or warm glass, AKA fused glass. I decided to experiment and got hooked.
Using my background in art & design, knowledge of science, and a passion for hand craftsmanship, I hope to create something you love, something that is both beautiful and functional.
All of the glass pieces you see have been hand cut, assembled, kiln worked, fully annealed and cold worked in my home studio.
Thank you for visiting my shop.
