Announcement   Welcome to my studio! I've been making jewelry about twelve years now. I've always been fascinated with the natural world and creating things. I started drawing at a very early age, then as a teenager, I learned to sew and started designing my own clothes. Later, as a young mother, my love of color and natural forms found expression in watercolor painting, photography, and pottery. In 2001 I started making beaded jewelry. My interests expanded to incorporating wire work in my designs and by 2009 I began working with fine silver and fusing techniques. Today, I offer handmade jewelry that combines semi-precious stones, hand-worked silver, gold-filled wire and other metals. Most pieces are one-of-a-kind. I will gladly make to order anything your heart desires within the limits of my craft. The pieces in my gallery are just a sampling of what I do. Check back frequently, as I will be adding new designs on a regular basis. Thanks for stopping and enjoy browsing!

About

Creating a "Patch of Blue" on a Cloudy Day.

The idea behind my shop name "A Patch of Blue" was that I could create something to make the heart leap. When you see a patch of blue sky on a very cloudy day it reminds you that the sun is always up there waiting to shine through.
I started making jewelry in 2001 and opened my Etsy shop in 2010 at the urging of my stepdaughter Karen. She said "You're crazy if you don't open a shop on Etsy!" She was so right about the value of having an Etsy shop. I now reach customers all over the world, as far away as Siberia and as close as my own town.
I began my journey, making jewelry with beads, then added chain and wire and finally moved into forging and fusing metal. My goal is to learn and grow so that I can constantly improve my work.

My love of nature and passion for creating beautiful objects goes back to my earliest years. I studied drawing, painting, design and metalsmithing at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute School of Art. Now, creating jewelry, I've found my haven.
