Hi, thank you for checking me out on Etsy!

I love little girls and sewing for little girls. The looks on their faces when they try on one of my dresses are priceless and I hope I get granddaughters, some day, to sew for. Meanwhile I sew for friends granddaughters and for this site.

Obasan means grandmother in Japanese and I love elegance in any form, hence my shop name. The art form most accessible to me is sewing (I started out in metal, but it requires explosive gasses around and I had kids....so I sew). We did live in Japan for two years and I fell in love with the culture, so if the Japanese word hung on an American woman seems odd, that is why.

Payment
A confirmation e-mail is sent after the sale, then I verify payment is received before I ship. A confirmation e-mail with the shipping information is then sent out. If you do not receive either e-mail, please let me know and I will be happy to resend.

I accept PayPal and money orders. Etsy allows me to accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.




If the item has shipped, the return policies, below, apply.

Taxes are the responsibility of the purchaser. This helps me keep prices down.
Shipping
I ship via the US Postal Service, Priority Mail and get tracking/delivery confirmation. I will use any requested carrier, but the price will be higher (because their prices are higher).

International Shipping requires me to get a specific price for each item. I do not add any handling costs, nor do I subtract any for returned items. Life is expensive enough.

Shipping times indicated on the item listings are applicable to the specific item. Any item that is requested to be altered in any way (sizing, fabric changes, etc) will be considered a "custom" order, and will be held to a separate shipping policy, as follows below:

"Custom" orders require more time by nature, and depending on the complexity of the request and how busy I am, may take longer. If you have questions about custom order creation, pricing, timing, or shipping, please feel free to start a conversation with me through my shop. I would be happy to provide you with a full quote in less than a week!
Refunds and Exchanges
I do accept returns with these conditions:

*If a sale on any item purchased directly from my available inventory needs to be canceled before the merchandise ships, a full refund will be issued.

*On an item from my inventory that has already shipped, I subtract the actual shipping cost from the refund, a copy of the actual shipping receipt can be scanned and e-mailed upon request. The refund will be made after I receive the item and determine it's condition.

*Any returns must take place within 30 days and the item(s) need(s) to be in brand new, saleable condition.

*If your order arrives to you damaged, please contact me! Your satisfaction is important!

*Some items are one of a kind and I cannot get the supplies any more, so returning a dress for a different size of a one of a kind item is not possible, but I will refund your money, minus shipping as long it is in brand new condition. Please check the posted dimensions and your child's dimensions before ordering.

*Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. Tracking is required for your protection as well as mine. I cannot be held responsible for vanished packages unless we can hold a carrier responsible for the disappearance.

Custom items are not returnable. Should a custom item not be fully paid for and abandoned with me, I reserve the right to attempt to sell it to recoup my costs. This would only happen after 90 consecutive days of no responses to my requests for information or 6 months total.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do custom orders and I stand behind my work. Anything you are not happy with, I want to hear about and be given the opportunity to make it right. In twenty one years I have not had to fix or change anything.

Due to increased demand for my custom work, I do have to announce a 3-6 month wait on all orders that are not ready made.

I do reserve the right to determine if something has been abused rather than used in a reasonable manner. Still, if it is reasonably within my power, I'd like you to walk away happy.
