When My Day Job Got Too Tedious...
...I rediscovered creative work after a 15-year break! In the past four years I have thrown myself feverishly into the craft of pottery, learning and experimenting and ruining a LOT of pots. I have taken classes and also taught myself, the latter much more so during Covid, and as such feel somewhat like an outsider artist.
I am inspired by Art Noveau, geometry, medieval graphic aesthetics, and anti-conformist motivations (I REFUSE to try to make a mug that looks like very other mug!). I have been enamored with mold-making, which allows for reproducing, altering, and repurposing found forms. As such, many of the items you see for sale in my shop can be remade and customized. Just ask!
I am not a professional artist. My work is imperfect and unconventional. I aspire to refine my craft but mostly do this because it's fun. Thank you for considering unburdening me of some of the pile of finished work under which I am buried!
I adore clay and continue to learn more every day about this extraordinarily humbling medium. I use hand-building, wheel-throwing and slip-casting techniques to produce my work, which I also sell at local craft fairs. I make everything by hand.
